Last night I upgraded my xbox 10gb hdd to a 80gb hdd. I unlock both drives, and then booted in to linux on my pc with both hdd connected.

I then used dd if=/dev/hda of=/dev/hdc to clone the drive.

I then locked my new drive with the passwork from liveinfo.

I put the drive in the xbox and it booted fine.

This seemed a bit to easy as some of the tuts contain other steps before cloning the hdd such hddprepar.

Can I expect problems in the future because I missed these steps? or is it just working fine?

Also how can I format the rest of the space as G drive?

I am using the font exploit with pbl and evox.

i think its much easier, and while it takes longer, to me its the right way to do it.\

UNlock Original HD using config magic.
boot to evox, ftp all directories out of the xbox, back up everything except D (the dvd drive lol)
take out original HD
install new one.
use slayers or similar to format the new HD, and use its ftp to install real evox to the new hd.
install configmagic to the hd, lock the hard drive, then reupload the files that you backed up.
take out the slayers disk and it should boot up just like normal, except the F drive should show somthing along the lines of 68gb or so

hmm, i just noticed that you have a softmod... i dont think that will work then...unless you can boot a cd from a blank HD. try it with the new hard drive and a proper xbox iso of the C drive. that might work [longshot]

<- just so you konw, i have no experience with softmods and minimal experience with linux.

The method I used seem easy and its working, I just thinking will I have problems later?

Also how do I format the unused space on my new hdd as G?

just format the new F drive. its only 80gb and the normal G drive is 137gb+

everything should fit on F

there is an option in evox.ini that is blocked out from being seen, i'm sure if you look you search the forum for "format f", you'll find a more definative answer

slayers does this too... if you have that handy
