I recently found out why my XBox has been dumping and fragging since I upgraded the HDD and wanted to share my findings in case anyone else has similar problems. I narrowed it down to the HDD, then the connections. I found that it was simply a power problem. The connectors that MS used to power the HDD are CRAP. They simply pinch the wires rather then securely connect. I had pulled on the four wires together to get the power connector off and it made the connections inside not so reliable. Normal computer drive connectors do not have this problem. I ended up simply cutting it off and soldering a basic connector from an old power source (or you can buy them for a couple bucks), taping the solder points, then reconnecting. My beloved Xbox has been working perfectly since. This gave me much headaches for awhile from a simple stupid mistake. ...figured if anyone else could save a room full of cursing, it would be worth posting.
