I've mentioned this before but didn't get a response so I'll mention it again

. In the original GBC Pokemon Pinball whenever the screen switches to the other part of the table (upper/lower) the music messes up briefly then returns to normal. This doesn't happen in the Windows version.

I've tried just about everything in Xboyadvance to fix the crackling sound problems in most games but still no luck... In the windows version there is significantly less crackling in games. Will this be addressed in the near future?

It'd be nice if having the R-trigger tied to fast forward would default to OFF on this fine emu.

Dual Gameboy Advances support. The source code for the VisualBoyAdvance emulator is
Here Sure, I know that the xbox isn't fully compatible with one game running. But I want this feature included in the emulator just for multiplayer purposes don't matter how slow it would run. I'm sure there are others who would like this feature included and there are some who don't. If they don't want it, they don't have to use it. But the ones who do could use it on their own free will.

Congratulations yet again, Diontae. You've earned yourself a 2 week ban this time. Is it really so difficult to read the FAQs?

I would really like to see the motion blur filter implemented into the xboyadvance emulator, it is avaliable on the windows version of visual boy advance and helps with games that have bad flicker such as ballistic. Without this filter the game is almost unplayable. I have tried every other combination of hardware and software filtering avaliable (on pc and xbox) and motion blur is the only filter that will get rid of the flickering. The game is one of my favorite and i am sure it would help other roms with the same problem. Any reply would be welcome.

No fix required. Delete the savefile for the game then, when you next run it set the save type to EEPROM.

I have had a small problem running Astro Boy- Omega Factor, and Advance Guardian Heroes. I've tooled around a bit with Savefile types, and BIOSes. Otherwise, I have no idea what to tweak. All I get is a white screen.
Thanks for the great emulators.

The pokemon Ruby, Sapphire, Fire Red & Leaf Green games don't save right. Can this be fixed? Whenever you save and load the game, it says Save File corrupt, loading backup. I think this is because both games use a 1mb flash but I could be mistaken. Either way, it doesnt work

I'd asked before the game came out, and just tried the ROM. Mawaru: Made in Wario (Wario Ware 2,) uses a motion sensor, not unlike the GBC Kirby Game. I see that motion is mapped in the configurations, but Mawaru doesn't seem to support it.
I'd be really grateful for this to work. I've got the actual game, but for a party, a GBA is a little small, and the Gameboy Player... well, I don't wanna rotate my Gamecube...

This is more for pretty much all Xport emulators than just XBoyAdvance.
Is there any way to turn the game's music off? Like, the actual rom's music/sound effects.
I know people have complained about the music in the menu playing while the game goes on, but I occasionally would like to listen to an MP3 playlist while playing a game, and the only problem is that the games music gets in the way.
I had a good look around and couldn't find any way to turn it off, so, am I just blind and it's right in front of me? Or if it's not there, is it possible that this could be added to Xport emulators?
Thanks.

for ruby n sapphire its the clock, you have to set enable real gba cl,ock or something like that to ON when you first run those games, as for leaf green fire red, search on emulator section.. i explained what you need to do to get those running..

i got a hold of the latest xboyadvance and noticed there was no xboyadvance.ini file to setup everything myself. was it taken out? how would someon go about setting up the saves, screenshoots, roms, etc. directory?
i actually noticed the same "problem" in some other xport emulators ... but im not going to post a reply in each xport emulator topic. i am going to assume that the answer i get here will roughly be the same for the other xport emulators.

I've looked around, so hopefully this doesn't get me an instant ban. Is the network mode in XBoyAdvance intended for playing GB/GBC games across two Xboxs? Because that's what I tried, and for some reason both of the systems are controlled by the server system. Anyone have a clue? Thanks for any replies.
Oh, if it means anything, I have tried this with both the same game and different games. I tested NeoGenesis, it works without problem. The games seem to be connecting as if they were console games :/.
I forgot one other thing. I also tried two of DBZ: Goku Hishouden and DBZ: Goku Gekitouden on one machine with Dual Gameboys turned on, I got the same problem. To my knowledge, these games were linkable.

I could be wrong, but I don't believe XboyAdvance has network play at all.
It has a split-screen function for original Black & White Gameboy games, as well as Gameboy Color games. Not Gameboy Advance games.
I could be wrong, but I believe the two games you mentioned were Gameboy Advance games. If not, I apologize, I don't follow DBZ too much.

Nov 2 2004, 07:20 PM
Those two are original GB games. I'm not sure if it has network support. I got two Xboxs to connect and run two different games(Pokemon Gold And Silver). They are just both being controlled by the first controller on the server system.
Something else I wanted to add. I don't want to get banned for this because I know alot of people have asked about it before, but I haven't seen this particular question anywhere. If it is possible to connect two Xboxs and play the games separately over them, then would GBA link support be possible by networking two Xboxs? I looked up some info on the GBA link and found that at max speed, it'll go about 110K/sec. Normal network cables go about 10 Mbit/sec, which is over 1000K/sec. Anyone else see where I'm going? I'm not asking for this to be implemented, I'm just curious. I don't know the specifics on the GBA Link.

Sorry for double posting. I think I understand the purpose of the network functions now. Is it meant to play games over a network share? So, you wouldn't need them on your Xbox? Or, was it indeed intended to play on two systems?
Cathesdus
Nov 6 2004, 02:51 PM
Well, it can play games over a network share and it can link two xbox's t play. Depends where you go

I've tried the only network options I can find. Both systems load two separate games, but both systems are controlled by the first controller on the server system.

What's the point? If they were all jammed together it would make everything confusing, bulky, and possibly slow things down. There are already emulators that do these things great on their own. Having them all in one would be a pain in the ***.

I love to use the XBox controller to play the games in my big TV.
But i hate to navigate between folders checking CROPPED names of my games, I like the file listing options of Xbox Media Center (i use it as dashboard and main player).
It list the files order by name, date & size, it allow me to view files as thumbnails or a list of files (rotating the name of the file if is bigger than the text area).
The file listing of Xboyadvance isn't customizable, the default skin waste half screen to show not so useful info and in bold format make the game dificult to read.
Please, add a 'windowed mode' of the game running, so, we can check for options or read the text file while whe're playing (adding controls to handle that shouldn't be so dificult)
And for last, there's a way to run xboyadvance with a game withouth showing any menu?
and map the 'switch to menu' as 'switch to dashboard'?
Like:
default.xbe f:/path/to/game.gba menu=off load_save=yes
or something like that.
Saludos

It is customisable. You can edit up your own image and replace it (to get rid of the Screenshots box, for instance) and you can edit how wide it displays the names.
For example, with my skin the default rom selection screen looks like this:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v69/Vamino/select.pngMy own edited image looks like this:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v69/Vamino/select_edit.pngI took the image from the main menu, coloured over the GBA image in the background, and copied the small one from the original roms menu image and made it smaller to place at the top center of the edited image. Then using the skin configuration in the emulator I changed it so that the rom names display right across the lighter area in the middle. It takes a little trial and error to get that set correctly, but there you go.

Hi there. I installed Xboyadvance for the first time last night and I have to say I was impressed. We've used the PC version for a while now and it works well but the XBOX seems to do an even better job.
I do have one question though. When copying my ROM files to the XBOX (via FTP) it stopped after 256 ROMs had been copied and refused to do any more. Is there a 256 file limit in a single directory? It seems a little low but given that 256 is a significant number in binary I thought it may well be the case. 512, 1024 etc would have been nicer :-)
If there is no way around the 256 file limit I'm assuming I can create multipe ROM directories and just select the one I want at startup. It was getting too late last night to try that. Maybe tonight ......

Dec 5 2004, 11:51 AM
Hmmm. That is interesting. I wonder why it wouldn't allow any more than 256 ROMs to be tranferred via FTP then. I'll have to play with it some more and see what I can come up with.

re: uploading failed after 256 files. The problem is most likely that you are trying to upload a file that has invalid characters in it (such as "+", "/", etc.) Search other forums for the list of valid XBox filename characters, but you can probably figure it out via trial and error by just removing non-alphanumeric characters one at a time until it goes through. The filename length also must be less than 42 or 43 characters.
