Does anyone know any great websites with a ton of information and maybe a forum on how to repair cars. I know nothing on repairing cars. I also don't mean to repair a specific car but in general. I need a new hobby because you would be amazed how much time you have free when you detest television.

If your thinking this guy wants to be a mechanic, well, maybe but I don't want to go to school for it. I already am for something else.

I want to be able to know what what is when you hear 360i blah blah yada yada torque 343z alien space horsepower 3.8 liter. laugh.gif tongue.gif A little carried away there hehe.

I would like to be able to restore a car a few years from now. Or at least be good enough to be bothered by family to fix their car as if I were a Repair Shop (Life isn't it). laugh.gif To paint, installation of new parts, re upholster, etc.

Is this guy nuts? Well I am a young guy who likes to learn and edify myself, if you can help THANKS A BUNCH!!

EDIT: Or some great books I can check out at the Local Library. TIA

There literally hundreds of online car forums. You could read up on your particular car and maybe find a few cheap or eve free mods to do to it and maybe learn to do some repairs. Or you can just peruse forums in general getting info.

I've been memebers on
www.probetalk.com
www.mx6.com
www.vwvortex.com
among others.

You could also buy a repair manual for your car and maybe try a few minor repairs yourself. Working on cars has taught me far more then reading. Even offer to help any friends you may have with their car repairs if they are doing them themselves.

I recently got a repair manual for my buick, unfortunately I really dont know much about cars. Just some basics. Heh... I managed to replace my headliner a few days ago, but damned thing is starting to bubble in some spots.

Uhh random ranting ....

experience is probably the best teacher. take an auto class in school, or just ask people you know who know stuff about cars to help you.
