I don't have a hot glue (thought I did but appearantly it wasn't mine).
Anyhow, can I use superglue for the 8 leds under the jewel
and for the jewel itself?
I'll wrap the connections with some tape, so that shouldn't be a problem
but would it stick well?

i wouldnt. superglue likes to do weird stuff sometimes. id just go to walmart or something and spend 5 bucks on a hot glue gun. and use model glue or something for the jewel.
...dont use superglue.

Use Electronic grade silicon. Holds extremely well, is flexible and removable if need be. That is much better then any glue.
Silicon is holding my LCD and control boards to the top of my box. Molds nicely around any contour and discipates heat better then glue will. If Pamela Anderson has held her chest together this many years (alot of heavy usage I am sure) with the shit, it will hold your little leds no problem.

super glue hasnt got the consistency, it's too thin!
buy a hot glue gun and glue, they're less than a fiver here in the UK, should be under $10 in the US

Another vote for not using superglue. The first jewel I ever did, I used superglue.
It caused hazing anywhere it touched the jewel, and even where it didn't touch, vapors from the superglue evaporating hazed the jewel. Big mess.

Superglue and plastic dont mix well. Sure it bonds nice but it will leave a white crust all over your stuff that will not come off.

for the jewel attachment i used the radioshack all purpose adhesive, barely noticable, and seems to hold great. for the leds def a hot glue gun

Cheaper than that, even. The last hot glue gun I bought was for $2 at Wal-Mart, plus a 100-pack of sticks for $3.

On Howard Stern she said she used the other kind, not silicon.

The other kind is saline.
Anyone have recommendations for something that's a really strong hold? It won't be visible at all. I have my controller ports for my mATX case mounted in a 3.5" drive cover....whenever I plug a controller in, it pushes the whole plate back inside of the case.

Super Glue does some times eat plastic and discolor it ,So go with hot glue/ or if you need clear liquid nails for acrylic

Even though most of you are against it, I used super glue to adhere my cold cathode ring around my jewel hole. it worked quite well, but didn't bond immediately, so I had to use a hair dryer to cure it faster. It did not discolor anything, nor ate away at the ABS plastic the Xbox case is made out of. I think it worked quite well, especially since I don't ever plan on trying to take that cold cathode off ever. I'll probably use it again in the future, especially since I have most of the tube left still
