have a bug report sirlemonhead. In the marine campaign on level Episode: V. Tyrargo right at the end when I complete the level the game freezes at my the states screen for that level. Hope it can be resolved cause it happens everytime I complete the level.

OK found a new Profile editor you can change everything controls user name and online name also what levels you have completed and what cheats are enabled.

ProfileED there are also other tools there.

also just realised you can import bigger textures over the smaller ones and the work fine only tried 256x256

he is aware of this bug its being addressed as soon as u go down that elevator and click onthe exit door of the level it wont load the FINAL level ( BOSS FIGHT WITH THE QUEEN) the ONLY way to get it to work is to ftp all your profiles from your xbox and play that stage on the pc build then once in the stage after it freezes on xbox save it then re ftp it and enjoy the final boss on your xbox ^^

meaning play Episode: V on your pc build then save the game when on the start of the last stage and then re ftp it over and enjoy it on your xbox ^^

aw damn you ruined the supprise of fighting the queen for me lol oh well thats what I was planning on doing I just havent had the time to setup my router upstairs and connect everything. I'm goin snowmobiling today . But ya at least I know what to do now ty DevGuy

Here is my ordeal, I've copied the files from AVP Gold as per the instructions, booted up, created a profile, then it goes to load the game and the green progress bar at the bottom of the screen hangs.

Could someone make a cover art shot like the one that xbmc uses when you have it in icon mode? I have no clue how to do this because when i use dvd2xbox it makes the icons automatically (i'm guessing it takes the image somewhere from the retail discs?).

Hey guys, is there anyone playing this with the component cables hooked up? cos all my in game text, including the menus, is totally gibberish, and I know the cable has been cause for some of the rendering issues I've had in the past. I dunno though, I'm just spitballing

same bug for me,
I'm using the alien vs predator gold edition "best seller series" in france;
and when i choose to install this in french, some menus appears with the good french names, and most of the menus don't appear at all;
something to do with the "language.txt"?

Yeah i use component cable and the game works fine in 720p no Graphical glitches that i can see.

Well as Marine it locks up on load screne, as Predator I can start the game, move, and then it locks up. Have not tested Alien yet.

If you have editing capabilities sirlemonhead, you might want to put that towards the top of this thread so it doesn't get lost. (Or better yet, someone should include them with the download if they work with your port. I can't imagine they're not legal to download since gamespot has them)

Awesome job man!!! I always loved this game, and always thought it was better suited on a console than a pc (especially when playing as the alien). One thing that I'd really like to see in it other than the obvious movie/music support: Changeable resolutions. I have it hooked up via component (all HD modes enabled) and I'm not quite sure what resolution its running at, but it has a huge overscan issue. You can't read the mission hints that display at the top of the screen (cut off). I'd tried changing resolutions in game, but it just displays "Xbox 0x0x0" and I can't seem to change it; I assume other video modes aren't supported right now.

I havent coded multiple resolution support at all. It's not a problem or anything, I just dont have anything other than a composite hookup for my xbox so I can't do a whole lot of testing.

I never bothered to get the top console on screen properly. I was more or less hoping to re-write that so it's a bit bigger - it's somewhat unreadable on a pc at higher resolutions as it is (as is most menu text..)

Well if you want someone to test it out, I'd be more than glad to! I love this game. I found a temporary workaround for the console issue: Go to your character's configuration, and map "Message History" to something like Dpad Up. When you use that, it displays the messages in the center of the screen making them totally readable. Honestly the text is perfect for me to read as is; although it may be due to me playing on a 42" screen. One bug I've found so far: If you purposely/accidentally hit the back button at the stats screen (when you die) instead of hitting start, it freezes up.

Sorry if this has been answered already, but does the Cheat menu in the game suppose to work on the xbox?
On my xbox, it just locks up if you select that option. It's an amazing game just as is, but I was just wondering.

What cheat are you trying to select and for what species? Does it happen on the pc version too?

I downloaded the profile editor AvP PE and enabled "Terror" on the Cheats section. I modified the marine levels completed to "Demo". The system freeze applies both to PC as well as the Xbox version.

UPDATE:
With the PE I updated all species game level to "Demo" and at least on the PC side I'm able access the Cheat Menu. I presume it will be the same for the Xbox version.

Sorry, I stand corrected. Training level it is and yes I'm using the Gold Edition. I've not played this game prior to the recent announcement of the xbox release. So I'm kinda figuring this out on the fly. I do appreciate the correction.

To get it to work i installed it and then renamed the AVP.exe to AVPGold as windows xp tries to patch it or something along though lines that's why it wouldn't start for me i then create a profile and blank all the buttons out enable all cheats and save it then i put the default.xbe in the same folder and just copy that folder to the xbox (Tsop flashed - IND-Bios 5003 - Dashboard - XBMC) then i just load the game and i haven had any problems apart from the odd crash that has been reported already.

Even new texture work fine in the game.

I just wanted to say Thank You for working on this. I noticed the news about it a couple of days ago so I tried it out asap. I have the Gold version for both Mac (which came in a clear DVD case) and the PC (which is in a dual CD case). If you would like scans of either of those covers, let me know.

hey there, im using linux and ive had no success using the profile editor...do you think you coup upload the profile you have with the cheats enabled? i have the blank profile posted earlier in the thread, but im unsure as to wether it has the cheats menu. thank you

Here you go i included a blank profile with your user name on here and a profile called Cheats as you need to have at least completed one level for all species to stop the menus from crashing.

Cheat profile has all levels complete on Directors cut and all cheats enabled.

Well I finally found the PC game, which was really hard to find - so old. Got it installed & transferred over to the xbox. AWESOME job Sirlemonhead I appreciate the hard work that you obviously put into this port. Also look forward to anything you consider an improvement (update wise). run mods (single player) in this? No big deal really, just wondering.

Alright on my system as the marine the green progress bar locks up when it is supposed to be loading into the 1st map. As predator it locks up right after you move your character on the 1st level. On my friend's system it just goes to a black screen no matter what character you try.

I did and istall of AVP Gold on my PC, copied that directory to my XBOX and put default.xbe in there and this is what I get. Did I miss something here?

Never done that to me. The logical thing is that your version of AvP is none standard. First of all, it is AvP Gold, isn't it? It must be the Gold version. And of course you installed it to your PC, and did NOT apply a patch to the PC version. Then you copied the entire directory to your XBox hard drive, and copied the .xbe across?

Sorry to ask such basic questions, but it's as well to make sure the problem isn't something obvious.

I'd suggest you do a copy of your AvP directory on the XBox. To do this, copy the entire directory back to your PC (so that it's the problematic install we're looking at, in case this is somehow different to the original PC version - I can't imagine how, but this way will remove the possibility of that problem). When you've copied the directory across, then go to it in a DOS box.

I.e., go to Windows' START menu, then PROGRAMS, then ACCESSORIES, then COMMAND PROMPT.

You'll see a DOS box. Go to the AvP directory that you've just copied from your XBox to your PC, by typing

C:
CD\AvP

(or whatever the name of the drive and directory you just copied from your XBox to your PC)

then type

dir >> testslh.txt

and then open up testslh.txt in notepad (or any text viewer) and copy and paste the entire text into a post in this thread, so that we can check that your files match ours.

Also, give us details of your XBox - what menu system are you using (Evo-X, XBMC etc) to start AvP, what drive and directory is the game in on your XBox, the type of XBox and modchip, if you know them.

When explaining a technical problem on a forum, never be afraid to give too much information, it's far better than too little.

Actually, one thing occurs to me - there are no spaces in your XBox AvP folder name, are there? If so, rename the directory to something else, say

and see if the game works then.

That is just a trainer downloader the actual trainer engine in XBMC doesn't work with that trainer as it doesn't have the game id so XBMC wont associate it with the AVP game so you cant select the trainers you can how ever use Xored Mini Launcher but even that you have to select the trainer as its cant associate its self with the default.xbe.

OK i have fixed this myself here are to patches to fix the TITLE ID and the Trainer TITLE ID so they will work in XBMC.

AVPG Default.xbe & Trainer Fix These are .exe's no copywrited stuff.
