How do I find information on .tar files??? looked in search maybe I'm not typing it in correctly, I just come up with pages containing start... Could someone post a link or something, it would be most appreciated....

.TAR = Tape Archive...
Curious.. why would you need to open a TAR file in today's world. I thought TAR is more or less a dead format?

Tar is a linux zip file or some other program they use

Ahh... back in the old CONNOR tape backup days.. TAR was a typical format for backup... never occured to me that it's still in use as a LINUX compression scheme.
Learn something new every day.
Just don't tell me someone has resurrected LZH...
