I used a soft mod. When i loaded it i unlocked the hd now its all messed up. I got my xbox apart and i got xboxhdm and made a bootable floopy to relock the hard drive. When i attache the hard drive and finish the boot the disk runs thru it tells me it has shut down and then to restart. what have i done wrong. Do i have to make a bootable cdrom and if so what files must i add to it. I dont want to lose my data on the hd please help

how more discreptive? I think is is v 1.0 box. used 007 and evox to soft mod. was succesful till i unlocked the HD.

No i did not make the iso from xboxhdm. I need to lock it becuse my bios is the origanal that came with the xbox so it will not load a unlocked hd.

i think that it checks to see if the hdd is locked before it will boot a disc (meaning you cant boot a disc until the hdd is locked), but i could be wrong.

if you cant get it locked, you can always try doing it through your computer.

The xbox checks to see if the hd is locked like the way it should be then it unlocks the hd and then loads the m$ dash then loads the game if present if in the drive. am i right about this or have i got it wrong? This all works nice if you have the hd locked or running a hacked dash like evox but since i am running the origanl bios and dash and my hd is unlocked M$ checks for the lock since its not locked i get error message 5. If i make the iso what files need to be added to the iso before burning or why my bootable floopy is not working.

no im talking about when you use xboxhdm on ur computer

my xbox is not chiped so it wont run a hacked dash on a cd and i did not install the softmod just what loaded of the save game hack

Ya but i did not install the dash or the bios. i just ran the saved game nothing permanit other then unlocking my xbox.

so, i think you can pull out your hdd and put it into your computer and run it through xbhdm like mynuffinfutsitch was saying

Ya that is what i am doing but with xboxhdm there is a make bootale floopy to lock unlock, I wanted to do this then try to figure out what files i need to make the bootable cd. But when o connect the xbox hd to the computer and let it boot up the computer tells me that its "shuting down" the hd and then it says "restart"
then nothing happens. what am i doing or do i have to make the bootable cd.

double click "make-iso-win" (make sure its extracted) then use that to burn the iso

I read somewhere that i need to add like dash.xbd or something like that. Do i need to do that since i am just trying to lock the hard drive.

if your going to just lock the hardrive you wont have to nothing then to do what i told you. Read the readmes in the program to see your questions awsered

I read the readme it was not much help it seamed to be all about making or reformating the curropted hard drive but thanks i will try that. if i still have problems u will be back.

i tryed that and i guess i miss understude what it did. I need to first recover the back up of the unlock password the the box uses. So i tried the first optoion and id does not see the hd on the master cable said that it is not present.

does evox use a certain password when locking and unlocking the hd

Your hdd is already unlocked.. Hopefully you ran the backup command in evox that dumps your eeprom.bin (hdd password) to the disk. Since the hdd is unlocked, its a simple matter of plugging it in, booting xboxhdm, accessing the eeprom.bin, and locking the drive. If your eeprom.bin is not on the hdd, then you will NEED a modchip to fix your xbox...
