Ok, so I'm building this HDD switch and my girlfriend goes "I wanna' solder!" And she's giving me this look like 'please let me play', pouting and shit - too cute, you know. So I say ok, and show her how to do one and she catches pretty quick, so I let her do the rest. However for some God-forsaken reason I failed to notice that the pair of wired that connect to the power supply were reversed...now both off my HDD don't work Are they fried? 160G paper weight...shit...

test em out one by one in your PC. See if Windows can detect it. To see if it is being detected go to Administrative Controls --> Computer Management. In this window on the right side should be Disk management. Click that and from there use your thinking to see whats possible to be done with the drive. It might need formatting or something if it lightly shocked the drive. Hope this helps.

If 12 volts was connected to the 5 volt rail then you have 2 paperweights.
