Full Version: Upgrading Hard Drive With Slayers 2.5

Hi,

I got a xbox which is modded by a local modder. It's version 1.6 and with the samsung dvd drive. It comes with the original hard drive (10G) and with evox installed. I would like to upgrade the hard drive to 80GB that I have.

I followed the instruction on slayer's doc:

- connect the new 80GB hard drive
- boot with the slayer disc.

When I boot it with the slayer disc, I got the MS green page error, saying something the xbox needs to be serviced or something like that.

Any advice?

Thx,
bfoot.

Looks like your drive is not reading slayer

Well, if I boot to my old hard drive and use the explorer like program (I do not know if it's part of evox) running on the xbox, I can see the disk. I can run the default.xbe and I will have the slayer screen.

It looks like to me the xbox always boot from hard drive. I know on PC, you can set the bios to boot to cd first before attempting hard drive. Does xbox have similar settings?

You can set the bios loading preferences with a bios editor in some bios releases but as stacker 69 said, its more likely a reading problem, I have had this many times and if you try over and over again it will normally work eventually.

it always reads the disk first for me...
it sounds to me like you need to reburn with a different media, one that
your drive can read better. biggrin.gif

like use DVD-R disc for Samsung drive, or change the cd media type or even the cdrw type, if all that fails, then extract iso, then add a dummy file to it. then recreate iso and burn with dvddecrypter.

Also, Slayers 2.5 is quite outdated. You should go get 2.6 which is much more current as it was released 3 weeks ago.
