I have a x2.1 pro and tried to use x2 flash manager to compile 4 different evox bioses. I made one 1mb bios and ftped it to the xbox and used evox to flash it. I erased the chip and got a quarter of the way done and locked up and now i screwed!!! I will try to flash it with lpt cable but i want to know what i did wrong to make it lock up.

problem is that with that chip and evox you need to flash a full 1 meg or it'll flash incorrectly, also try using something other than an evox bios, ie xecuter bios

the files were 4 256 K bioses so it is 1 mb

but was it saved as one .bin file or 4 seperate ones, cause as i said befoer with evox you MUST flash a full 1meg bios

ive flashed a 512k with evox before. it flashed it to both banks (2.3 lite) so im 1337

I dont know, i used the bios manager to load 4 256k evox m8 bioses, and it spit out 1 1mb .bin file. Is their anyway to reflash my bios with a cd or something, i dont have another chip to hot swap with and i have lost my printer cable.

if you want to flash a full 1MB bios image to the x2pro, you have to switch the dip switches to 1MB mode (switches 1-3 all off). if you're running in 256k mode, you should be flashing with a 256k bin, and if you're running in 512k mode, 512k bin, etc...

I'm pretty sure this is contrary to the x2lite, which you always flash with a full 1mb image.

that is definately true of the newer pro chips, but i'm not sure if it was true with the 2.1 pro or not, once again, it's evox that comes into play more than the chip itself

you have a pro chip, use the lpt port and flash from the computer with x2bm v 2.2, turn it on and let it frag so it gets power, then flash it from pc

ok i havent got around to reflashing my chip so when i turn my xbox on its just a black screen. I found that the dvd-rom wont open, the laser just moves up and down a few times and stops. Will the bios cause this to happen? Appreciate the help

reflash from your pc, this time with x2 4981 or 4983 on all 4 banks of the chip, if it boots up fine then you can reflash any of the banks you want to with flashX
