I won an auction for a "like new" 605 Samsung DVD drive. I seemed to work good so I gave the guy a positive rating. The very next time I went to play a game the tray would not eject. I found that if I tap the eject button, hit it again, and then one more time it will pop out 7/10 times. If it does not I just repeat until it does.

Well now the tray gets stuck when it is open. Example: I was playing fable and hit the eject button. The tray slid out and I put the game in the case and hit the eject button so that the drive would retracted but it just hanged there. I tapped the eject button a few more times and it finally went in.

When I hit the eject button and the tray does not come out, I hear the drive trying to do its job. I figured it has been used ALLOT and the tray motor is going bad.

I got 2 questions for you guys:

1) Do you also think the tray motor is going bad?

2) Do you have any specs for the tray motor or do you know of a suitable replacement?

sounds like the tray in and tray out switches are suspect or the front circuit board isn't right

is it deffo a 605b original drive - coz this tray locking happens to a lot of 616F - 605B conversions again due to the tray in/out switches

If you are talking about the switches that the eject button on the Xbox connects to that is not the problem.

And I am 100% it is a 605 and not a modded 616

FWIW: Typically, the drive belt will wear out well before the motor itself. I would suggest checking/replacing the drive belt.

Is this a Factory XBox drive?

This is a factory 605.

The drive sounds just like it would if you put your hand right in front of the drive to prevent it from opening.
