So I'm gonna get an X-Chip with the solderless adapter. I've been reading up on how to install it. I'm kinda confused because the LPC points or whatever that the adapter plugs into are actually filled with solder... Is that supposed to happen....? Should I just get an Iron and try to clear them out...? I have an earlier model xbox....

I've heard somthing of a "desoldering wick" or somthing like that..... Anyone know where I can pick one of those up and if it will help my situation?

No reason to desolder, just dont use the rivits and it will all fit great, just leave the solder there and the points will contact the solder and work great>

I have the same problem. So is it better to let them contact the solder or to clear the solder out and fit in the rivets?

Yup, leave the solder in there, get the adapter set, tighten er down and your champ, leave the solder alone

Well I got it all installed correctly (or it seems to be), but now my xbox isnt powering up. I havent plugged everything back up (hdd, dvd reader) but it should still turn on correct?

Well I figured out why the xbox wasnt powering up. It turns out the socket I plugged it into was connected to a lightswitch that was in the off position.
doh!!
