did you take off the msater/slave selector from the back? Check for solder splashes. Check if the drive is heating up somewhere on the mainboard. Other than that I dont have a clue.

Okay ...

Try lifting the XBOX cover ... I mean take it off and then try opening / closing the drive ...

If it works, then when you put your cover back on, slip in a piece of cardboard or thermocol between the top cover and the bottom cover to give your drive some leeway ...

Usually, after modding the Samsungs, they need a little more space to open / close ..

I had the same problem ...

Lemme know how it turns out ...

I modded my SD616T, it was working fine than all of sudden it stopped ejecting. There's a lot of people who are expierencing the same problem. The drive will read games and other disks but will not eject unless I stick a freaking paper clip in the (emergency eject) hole.

I'm trying to find a fix but for now were stuck with a drive that doesn't eject dry.gif

Here's what happened to me. The very first thing I did after unpacking mine, was hooking it up to one of my computers and testing it out. I found that my first 616T they sent me was DOA. The damn thing wouldn't eject! It acted like it wanted to open but didn't. So back it went and they sent me a new one, and this one works fine.

So, if you said your 616T opened half way and then closed, then it's wired right.
Your problem sounds mechanical. Like something is not aligned right or binding.

Just to clarify, the 616T is a pc dvdrom drive so you do need to set the jumper to SLAVE. Check here. I did it to mine and it works fine.
