How old is the chip? as for using the software on Xp ensure you are using usb ver1.0 and not vers2.0 as i had the very same prob with my first chip, all i did was use it on a pc with the ver1.0 usb and hey presto everything went ok

it did this on my friends you can't click open straight from the download box thing. You have to go where you saved it and right click then click like extract.

Ok noe of the suggestions have worked. The Chip is seated correctly. The wires are all connected and yet 1.0 gives me a cmd_get_status error (constantly) and 1.5 wont connect. Did I waste my money on the X-Bit chip. Someone renew my faith please?

To solve this problem you all have use "only" the USB ports on the back of your PC. And along with that unplug any and "all" USB devices connected to your PC (ie: mouse, keyboard, printer, scanner, etc.). Once you have done this use v1.5 of the X-BIT program and click connect, it will work, I guarentee it. What I figured out is the v1.0 of X-BIT.exe would show error and a false connect; but v1.5 wouldn't show anything indicating a error has occured, even though one has (in the new version they stopped a false connect from happening...but they forgot to put an error message telling you somethings wrong).

After that if your X-B.I.T. modchip doesn't work your in the same boat as me. I have a version 1.0 Xbox and a brand new X-B.I.T. chip, I removed the solder from my LPC port holes and my solderless mod chip now sits in the holes better than before (originally when I tried to install the mod chip without removing the solder on the holes the Xbox would flash green and red around the eject button and my screen would remain black). Currently my Xbox turns on fine and I did flash the chip with X2 and Evox at seperate times, but STILL nothing happens. When I turn on my system the Xbox logo shows up and the M$ under the "X" is still there...this X-B.I.T. is turning out to be a piece of shit. If anyone needs any more help just as me, and if anyone knows what my problem is please do tell, I'm sick of buying crap that doesn't work.
