Simply cannot get it to work. Using a v1.6, with M8_16 bios, trying to launch with Avalaunch and with Evox, following the instructions on location to the letter, following exactly everything I saw. I even tried renaming the xbx file to a .txt for transfer so that it forced it to transfer in ASCII instead of "image" mode, whatever that was, then named it back. The ver I have I downloaded from mad.kicks-ass.net, in case there's a broken set floating around, (not saying there is, just saying for the record, in case that's what's happened so we can track this). Tomorrow I'll try transferring every .xbx as a .txt then renaming them back, mebbe that'll help, I dunno... Sleep now...

I strongly believe that there are problems with the distributed
compiled dashversions. They were done bad/wrong/partly!!!

Can you please compile the dash completely over and include a .xbx configfile; which runs on C: Furthermore; also the data on C:/XBN/
Just a plain complete package.

Then let it host at the usual places; edonkey network, guex.net, irc etc.

there are a bunch of scripts" needed to be fixed for sure as the readme file says so. and the dash has a lot of potential,

The FTP built in is the best thing ever i love it! i could use this dash as is and still be happy. everyone that cant get it going has to have some kind of problem with there bios or something

Im running everything from F: on a 1.0 xbox with 4981_X2 bios hacked colour, flubber, .x files. and more. it works fine. Wire frame works good it might be a bit laged im not sure i dont even notice.

the transfer speeds are great and the connection opens immediately its all looking good for ftp!

the skinning seems to be easy and the tabs that once froze work good when you have them pointing to something that exists in your xbox!.

The images need to be flipped of course and a couple are not showing up that might just be something on my part. to be fixed of course.

And if you are running a bios version lower than 4981-x2 you are going to have to upgrade sometime down the road anyways. get with the programme!

i thought I'd mention I have Dual Boot UDE(font exploit) with X2 4983.06 and it runs fine, followed the instructions and it worked right away

i'm not sure if this is the right place to post this but i made a 4th tab for music and whenever i click on the tab the music just change to the next w/o going into the music menu if anyone know how to get it working please help. thx...oh yeah xdn is workin fine for me, i renamed the xbe to default and edit the xbx to target the E drive so it looks like this E:\Xbox Dash Next and put both in e\dashboards\xdn and placed the xbox dash next folder on the E drive.

I cant get it to load no matter what I do. Tried running in c e and F and nothing. edited the xbx so it knew where to find the correct folder. Using the latest xecuter bios by the way. One idea that would be cool if it could be done is include video previews like unleashx or is that even a possibility?

The black screen freeze is definately a conflict with certain games... 2 that i know it is a problem with is Pro fishing challenge and defender...

I fixed it, change the paths in dashdata.xbx to non existant paths, (games to gamez, apps to appz, like that)

This is my first time using this dashboard so I don't know if this hasn't been implemented yet or what, but when I try to delete a soundtrack using memory manager.... it doesn't actually delete it. Sure it says it is, but the soundtracks still there, and I can still play it.

Other than that, all the bugs I spotted have been psoted already. Nice dashbaord, thanks.

I have located the problem with the black screen!
for some reason XDN does not like super nintendo snes9x just delet the default .xbe and all should run ok

* You cant play music if you edit Music on Boot to False.

* if the game has multiple xbe's in the same folder it shows them all

Like Silent Scope it has 3 games in the same folder so i get

Definetly a bug. Transfered SAME EXACT FILES to a clean HDD and it booted up like magic, but on my Xbox there is something (like countless others) that gives you a black screen. If you are having problems, just wait for the bug to be discovered because until then there isnt much you can do to figure out why it does this. Looks like the biggest bug of all with this dash and people just want to blame it on user error, but you CANNOT if the same exact configuration works on a clean HDD. Im no newb and can handle a simple path connfig.

Okay Tigerhawk has cracked it. The confilct IS in the games. Changed mine to Games1 (doesnt exist on my HDD) and boots up.

Otherwise there are two things that I do not like:

The icons look terrible in the entire window. (Not the reversed thing its just washed out and it interferres with the text- bring back that cube!)

No more config from the dash itself? (I hope this returns in the final.)

Everything else is top notch. Give yourself a pat on the back JBone. Incredible work.

**Skins do change the reason the otehr dont work is because they havent had thier xbx edited yet , in the skins folder edit each colour for the dif cell parts and so on

I didn't change the path in dashdata, I changed it on HDD so say E:Games became E:Games1....quick and easy

When I try to stop a transfer from the XDN FTP to my PC I get this error.
Since the soft abort didnt worked I tried the hard abort from FFXP that´s when the error message appeared.
When I upload something to the XBOX the soft abort don´t work but the hard abort returns no error at all.

JbOne, I did like you said, used the original XDN.xbe and setup my Infocus X1 DLP projector to recieve a B&W picture to see the new XDN, it worked! Although, it didnt remember the 480P setting I put in the Video settings. It a pain for me to take the green RCA connector and plug that in my composite connector on the back of my DLP projector, as it shifts my position on the big screen I have it projecting on. A simple scripting or some kind of XboxDashNext.xbx configuration line to turn on 480P mode would be nice to have for further beta testing this new dashboard.

WOWOWOWOWOWOWOW!!!! Everybody, try renaming your games directory to games.1 and emulators dir to emulators.1 (xdash wont find them that way, but IT WILL ACTUALLY START!!

-added cache of xips in cache partition so you can edit zips via XDN ftp while dash is running( thx for the idea Crackin! )
-added "System" dir in app dir - this will house the main ini's and system files
the only one you ever need to change anymore is xdn.ini - this contains your current skin and network settings (you can change the paths in default.xbx manually as well - but meant to be scripted )-changed "DashData.xbx" to "default.xbx" - this is the file already set for you to access in scripts with GetValue and SetValue and is where the current set of xips/xaps gets and saves data to/from.
-fixed that annoying "flipped wrong way" icons in HD menu - made a new mesh for it - simplest fix ;P ( thx Milenko - i can handle my own hehe... actually i can not only handle my own - but i can outdo your team of 8+ single handedly, and for the record - you go to some twisted forums... )
-added icons on cube or on screen for hd menu - push Left and Right on the thumb - you'll figure it out
-changed xbe search to only find "default.xbe" and "trained.xbe" for those of us that like our trainers


lets wipe the slate clean and see how the improvements worked this is available in a "FULL" and a "LITE" distro so those that had v1 only need to get the LITE version and copy the Audio and Fonts dirs from v1.

I listed all of these bugs in a lot of detail but cable modem went dead right as I submitted so this time you get my readers digest versions. I hope I did not forget any.

leechftp does not work at all. gets listerrors with LIST -al command even if sent raw. Flashfxp works fine with same list command but fatal freezes dash if you abort xfer.

changing default.xbx to show 3 submenus instead of 4 and then removing reference lines for dashboard submenu results in a blank space where the submenu was instead of simply removing it like thx lite.

Trying to open a submenu that points to an non existand directory causes a fatal freeze. should either do nothing or idealy show an error prompt.

it may be scripting issue and not necessarily bug but pressing left on thumbpad to make icon show as cube should really save state instead of having to bepressed every time you open any menus.

IRC room should really not list the rar without fonts as main download as it causes confusion since fonts and auido are needed.

It was already mentioned but d-pad does nto work for nav.

note: Dash looked really blurry and bad compared to my old THC lite. It was running in 480i after testing it. Searching for search for this string C7 46 28 20 00 00 00 in a hex editor and changing the 20 to 00 resulted in a much better looking display on my hdtv.

Chances are likely if u changed the Skin settings you would make the dash look nicier , im guessing ur refferring to the ghostly white/blue on main screen .

The ghostly pale look was part of it but mostly just really ugly blur. Hex editing in progressive scan support fixed both.

Tested on: Xbox V 1.0 Xecutor 2 Pro, 120GB Maxtor HDD, 4981 Bios, in 480P.
I had to use progpatcher.exe to get it to show up in 480P.
I noticed it will crash if you check the System Info in the Dash or in the Config.
It takes about 12 seconds to load up. Slower than the older tHc MS Dashboard.
XDN does play other region DVD movies without any problems. A Nice feture is Autoplay Media On/off, and when Off, it asks if you want to load the media! Cool!
What I did notice and would like to know if it can be setup differently is it actually reads the "default.xbe" title info. So, I have 2 versions of FBAXXX, I had to rename the one of the default.xbe's name info to FBAXXX SE. I would hope you could set it up so it reads the directory instead. Like the old THC MS Dash does.
Other than that, I could not figure out how to setup the D-Pad to work correctly and the Configuration mode. When Pressing both Thumb Sticks in, I got into the config mode for Audio, button text, and so on, but Music was only accessable. Am I doing something wrong. Still, very nice new dashboard indeed!! Thanks XDN team!!!

in my case, to get xdn booting, i had to remove the game "italian job" !

lot of people were saying "xsnes" was the problem, when i removed it, i was getting black screen again...

so i resolve by doing;

renamed e:\apps;e:\games;e:\emus same thing for f:\

i renamed all common paths that xdn is scanning for...

like f:\games was renamed f:\0games.

after that, xdn is booting.

so i recreate a new f:\games

then i move the games from f:\0games to f:\games
(either one by one, or a few at a time)

until i get the problematic game.

so, "THE ITALIAN JOB".

Anyone Notice when the dash is launched it creates a 2202 block corrupted save?

yes i got the corupt save after i upgraded to version 1.1 bug dash...
i took the files and put them into C:/ and renamed the default.xbe to thclite.xbe and my bios
loads up the dash no problem. im loving the system info panal for sure! even with it saying 12 is my fan speed which we found out was going by half of the normal %

in ftp i was not able to delete a few things but most of which did. there is a bit of lag
from the xip replacement option threw ftp while the dash is running.

some of my icons dont work all the game icons are fine. its apps that have trouble.

in the save files. i noticed i could not delete a soundtrack file it went threw with the process but did not delete it. and i think the corupt save file may have came about when i switched to XDN 1.1 and did not delete the already saved file for the 1.0 release... il have to check on that again

this dash keeps getting better and im going to start skinning it for something to right now

ps: correct me if im wrong... typing from the xbox here.. I love the default.xbe where it says, "i bet you bsx fuckers wish this dash was not all encrypted!. funny stuff!

don't know if it's a bug or nor, or if it's been posted, but I can only navigate with analog stick, and not with directional pad.

when you make the icons go to cubes, the xbox logo is fliped..

Unable to change skins or anything else for that matter in the icon tray....I don't know if this is the way it is supposed to be for the beta; but, thought I would throw it out there. Should add, I am able to check sys info from the Settings menu.
