Hey, whoever wrote that for some strange reason has the idea you need to solder a matrix chip onto a v1.1 xbox... dunno where the hell he/she got this from but it's incorrect, just an FYI to n00bs.

not required, although highly recommended. I say all matrix chips need to be soldered in from my personal experience with people around me having issues with their chips/alignment.
