Just to say that there's a working Halo trainer sitting in the "New Uploads" section of www.xboxsaves.com.

I've just run it myself, and it works as advertised. You press both thumb buttons down, and the trainer menu pops up (looks totally screwed on HDTV, but still readable). You can be unkillable, have infinite ammo, and have a 'bump' mode where you turn into whichever character you run into!

I hope this won't interfere with XBconnect gaming. Oh well.

Will this work with store bought copys?

Er, no. It's a patched default.xbe, so you'd have to have the game on your HD (or burn a patched copy to DVD). I think it also has to be the NTSC version.

Having played it for a bit, it's quite fun. I'd be sure to back up your original XBE, since I'm sure it's pretty buggy. Bump mode is a good laugh, running around as a little grunt making silly noises.

I could always just rip my store bought copy to my hard drive and patch it that way, that would work wouldnt it?

Ok how do i patch the xbe file? do i just take out the default from halo and replace it with the hack file and rename IT to default.xbe or what?

Yup, I just ripped my legit copy to my HD.

To install, download IPSWin. Get the Default.xbe off the XBox. Run IPSWin on it, pointing it to the XBE and trainer IPS file. Put the patched XBE back on the XBox. You're ready to go.

Sweet thanks guy, i was suprised that halo fit on my original HD, i just took out the Xdemos and it fit with plenty of room.

I tried patching it but when I click on the default.xbe it just goes to a black screen...what did I do wrong?

Hmm, that doesn't sound good. By "click on", I assume you mean in EvoX/Boxplorer. And you are definitely running the US, NTSC version? Check this by putting Default.XBE in a RAR file, and check out the CRC32 column. It should read 55EA3A03, and after patching, it should read D6AD3F11.

Here's exactly how you should patch it (although I'm sure this is how you did it anyway).

1. Run IPSWin 2.0.
2. In "File to patch", select the default.xbe that you pinched from your Halo DVD. It should be exactly 2,535,424 bytes in size.
3. In "IPS Patch to use", select CZN-HALO.IPS.
4. Turn on "Backup Copy" and "Log File".
5. Click "Patch".
6. Take the now-patched default.xbe, and put it in the Halo folder on your Xbox HD.
7. Run default.xbe as usual.

If you really want I could probably host a link to RAR'ed copy of the patched default.xbe - we both have legit copies!

Burnmaster, whoever wrote this trainer should be given a pat on the back. Around here, we reserve headshots for people who pass judgement without bothering to find out the facts.

I've just tried it on xbconnect, and as promised, it's impossible to cheat with it. It does seem to work if you both have identical cheat settings, which is perfect - no advantages, and adds variety to a game that's been getting a little old lately.

Medusa is a bloody awful cheat - there's just bodies everywhere! Why couldn't they have done something so Master Chief runs faster? That would've been a popular mod.

The only downside to all this is that whilst Crazy Nation have been very responsible in preventing cheating with their trainer, they've also demonstrated that cheating is possible. It could be a matter of time before Burnmaster isn't talking out of his arse.

If you want to run faster, turn into a yellow Elite. Only problems are the Elites (and all other enemies I think) can't run on an angle, and if you're not the MC then you can't get past some load-points.

Anyone figure out what 'Cheat Controller' is yet?

i am using ntsc and i think it patched right but when i boot it all it does is go to the loading page and stay there

Ever wanted to pilot a Wraith? Just flip one over to eject the pilot, flip it back, and then turn into an Elite and then the game will let you hop into the driver's seat! Pretty cool, except you can't get out once you've climbed in and it is pretty hard to aim, but at least you get a nice big crosshair (as opposed to when you become a Hunter or Sentenel or Grunt w/Hunter gun where you get no crosshairs).

I'd wager this trick will also let you fly a Banshee on the Halo level. Just get one of the pilots to fall out of the Banshee, then turn into an Elite and jump in

Ok everyone I managed to patch it and test the cheats. PRAISE THE LORD THEY DO NOT WORK WITH XBCONNECT!! What basicly happens if you play a game with hacks enabled, as soon as you use one of the hacks, for example, having super jump on, if you jump, the game just suddenly ends. The same with one hit kill. If you kill somone with the one-hit kill mode on, the game ends. I think this is because those cheats effect other people. I'm not totally sure if having unlimited ammo, or full clip will make the game end like the other cheats, but I'm not sure...

Ok nevermind about the Banshees. I turned Medusa on and the Elites died and the Banshees fell to the ground intact, but when I turned into an Elite and walked up to one, it wouldn't let me fly it. Oh well...

i am really getting annoyed. i still can't get it to work i have tried so many different things but it won't boot. can anybody give me the patch file to see if it is the patch itself and it is getting mess up. plz

Brass monkey, are you sure the problem is the .xbe? If your playing off your HDD, then replace the .xbe with a non patched one. If it works, then it is the way you patch, if not....

Ok, I am having a weird problem. I patched my xbe and run the game. The trainer looks all garbled, but still readable. Then I turn on some of the cheats. Then, when I press both thumbsticks, the trainer doesn't go away. Then after like 30 seconds the game freezes and I have to manually reset my xbox. Anyone else getting this?

[EDIT] Ok, I repatched the xbe and uploaded it again. Now I can choose the cheats and turn off the trainer, but then like 30 seconds later the game still freezes. I uploaded the original xbe and tried the game and it works fine, so I know it's the patched xbe. Ideas? Suggestions?

The game freezes for me if I use 'Reflect Damage'. As long as I don't use that it is fine.

Yeah, that must be it. It's working for me now. Thanks, man! It's fun to play two player deathmatch with the cheats. Especially unlimited rocket laucher.

Reflect damage works fine for me...what yall running? iv got V1.0 with X-2 lite, western digital 120gb, and the Halo game is recently bought (christmas), so maybe its a diff version?
