Am I wrong?
I just bought a BRAND NEW 1.6 xbox and it has LPC holes in it
Is this normal?

All Xboxes have LPC holes. 1.6's aren't supposed to have TSOP's.

I hope or so I don't know where I soldered that chip into last week. lol. Look at the video encoder chip. If it's an Xcaliber, it's a 1.6 for sure.

ok... so why can't I just plug in my modchip
me = confused.
the manufacter date is July 2004.
I'm pretty sure its a 1.6

You have to do an LPC rebuild on a 1.6. The instructions may be different for each chip, so go to your chip team's official site and get instructions for 1.6 installation. And you probably should have posted this in a different board.

yes 1.6 has lpc holes, but you will need to rebuild it
to tell if it is a <1.4, 1.4 and 1.5, or >1.5, look at the video encoder chip... connexent, focus or xcalibur....
