I finally figured out why I cannot ping or connect to my xbox. It is because i have a wireless network also using that same IP address, what address should i try? or how do i avoid this conflict? thanks again.

p.s. I discovered this b/c when trying to re install my drivers i recieved the message, "Windows cannot set up this computer to share its Internet connection because the IP address it needs (192.168.0.1) is being used by another comnputer or device on the network, or by software running on this compuer."

most DSL and Cablemodem routers use the following IP adress ranges. Set your box to something else and you should be fine:

192.168.0.1 -> routers IP address
192.168.0.[100:150] -> DHCP scope (used to automatically assign an IP address to you PC(s).
