can the cd i load the dummy file on and all the files like evox.ini and default.xbe have to be a cdrw ? can it be a cdr? i saw this somewhere else but i dont think it was answered

No, you can use cd-r's and dvd-/+r's or dvd-/+rw's too. As long as your xbox drive can read cd-r's you don't have to use cd-rw's.

Unless you have a samsung or a pot tweaked drive, then yes, it will need to be either a cd/dvd-/+rw or a dvd-/+r. There is a tutorial on how to find out what kind of drive you have in the tutorials section.

Well actually my real question is if i can use a CD-R because i tried that and my xbox wont read it
whitechaos
Ok awesome thanks because i have a stupid thompson drive dry.gif

If you xbox won't read them, you will need to do a pot tweak to enable it to, but I've never done one. Just stick to a cd-rw and you'll be alright, they're cheap too.

Edit:

I'm not being an asshole and if I am then I'm sorry but some philips drive can read cd-r's too.
