drink or die
ok, so since I'm putting my new hip pad screen in the middle of the front control panel, where the power/eject buttons go, I decided to move the buttons to the right side. I took apart the dvd dongle, and hardwired it to the 4th controller port wires, and put it into the front panel. check it out. I still have to paint, but I'm going to do that after I get my hip pad in

but I'm having problems with the hip screen... video is all... umm... garbled. Yeah... that's a good word. I can tell it's the boot screen... but it looks like... those pics :-p

And I gotta question for you... where you plan on cramming the controller board for the hip screen? (That's where I'm planning on tossing mine... but I can't figure out where to shove the board...

I think I might just move the hard drive back in its tray, cut out the front of the tray, and put all the component in front of it. I'm not quite sure. I'll figure out something as soon as I get my pad on wednesday, and can actually know what I'm dealing with. Or... I'm going to bondo the front panel, and move the lcd as close forward as I can, so hopefully that'll open up some space behind it for the controller. I'll do whatever I need to, but it'll get put in. Hopefully by next friday

Hmm... that might work...

I guess.. the problem is that the controller board has to be close enough to the screen so the little orange ribbon cable thing can reach it.

Without contorting the ribbon too much, it needs to be centered... slightly to the left (i.e. DVD side...)

I dunno... you'll see when you get it.

I extended the rest of the wires (going to the board with the knobs on it) and mounted that so the knobs and power button are all in the top of the case. The metal shielding doesn't push down all the way... I'll let you know if the case still fits together.... once I figure out why the video is all messed up...

That's a though though...

I'll see if I can cram the board in. Right now I'm still focusing on getting it to work properly sad.gif

Pics and good news later... hopefully.
