| have a video which is in SVCD format. Whenever I try to play it on the xbox I just get some funky stuff on the screen (squares and noise). The file is a *.DAT file located in a MPEGAV folder. there are 4 more folders: CDI, EXT, SEGMENT & VCD. How can I get to play this on the xbox streamed from my pc. I am successful at streaming other media, dvd,xvid,divx,mpeg. WinDVD will not play the file and GSPOT doesnt even give me any info about it!

Rename the *.dat file to *.avi, then stream it as a normal vid.

You'll need to either disable "Hide extentions for registered file types" options in Windows, or just use cmd.exe to do it. You don't need the rest of the shit on the VCD.

I've done it time and time again with good ol' JAV vcds...

@Xombe, THNKZ for the reply but it does not work....same out put, and yes, I renamed correctly the extension filename.dat.avi (I like to leave the original extension for the heck of it.)

This file wont even play on my computer, neither via WMP9 or WinDVD?

Any other suggestions from anyone!?!?

Check it with Gspot to see if it's a truly renderable MPEG file. Maybe is was encoded wrong.

Oh, and you have th FULL XBMC mplayer codecs pack? Might not ever matter in this case, but you to have them.

And, really, why leave the .dat in there. Are you sure you understood me?

If Gspot fails, or whatever, go download VLC Player and give it a play in Windows. If VLC can't render and play it, I'd wouldn't know what to tell you.
