If i were to literally dump the Xbox motherobard into fairly hot water to wash it off and wait like 1hr for it dry and put it back in the system will it damage anything?
Does hot glue leave burn marks
Does electrical tape screw up any of the circuits?

Allowing the board to properly AIR DRY should be fine... as I've done this to keyboard and other components.
As for Hot glue... my modding buddy uses it to secure stuff all the time.
I used solder mask tap to secure the D0 during my actual attempt at modding.
Electric tape should be fine.. as long as you are careful when removing it.. wouldn't want to lift a trace.

OMG, but the MB in water and wash it off?

that the funniest thing ive heard today. neway, about ur question....im not sure what would happen but water and electricity dont mix and i woudnt recommend it. hot glue shouldnt leave a burn mark and using electircal tape should be fine.

the funniest thing i've heard today is the fact that u thought he was gonna keep it plugged in or something while putting it in the water
I'm pretty sure he's gonna remove it and then clean it and dry it then connect it..

How do you think their cleaned after manufacturing?

when i refer to cleaning i mean removing all grease dust, hair so i can have a more succesful chance in soldering.

I shower with my hair dryer all the time.... gives my hair LOTS of body!
I use electrical tape to hold the D0 in place and leave it there so that it prevents any pull on the D0. I wouldn't use a lot and as HSDEMONZ said, if you remove it, I wouldn't just rip it off.... removing it gently should be fine... electrical tape isn't *that* sticky where it would remove a trace easily.

hot glue is A-OK in my books. i use it to hold down sodder points, and then close up the points themselves.
put it this way - my psone will never be retail again ;p

If I take the motherboard out and rub peanutbutter and jelly on it, then stick it in the oven and cook it at 400F would I be retarded?

Well, I deep fried my motherboard, and it made it twice as quick! I like to make sure I leave my xbox on when I do this, because it speeds up the process. I never thought about hot water! Maybe the ionic discharges from the MB will heighten my xbox expierence! What do you guys think!

Getting water on any circuit board is risky. The water will start to corrode the solder points as well as the aluminum component leads. It's best to use compressed air to blow off the board if it gets wet. That way, all of the moisture will be completely blown out and no chance of corrosion can occur.
If you are looking for a way to clean the motherboard, use denatured alcohol. It contains quite a bid of water, too, but it will clean any residual flux off of the board and will evaporate much better than just plain water.
Also, another method of fixing wires to a curcuit board is using a dab of clear silicon RTV. It will hold wires in place, like the D0 one, and can be easily removed from the board without pulling up any traces.

I would also advise against the water. Not for the corrosions side of it, because in theory, it shouldn't be wet for long enough to do anything serious. It's just that you may have dificulty making sure that it is completely dry (i.e. under the cpu) for quite a while, certainly more than an hour....

uhmm..i just used plain old crazy glue to keep the d0 in place. hot glue is too messy.
krazy glue works just fine.

I used hot glue to atach my motherboard to my pubic hair, before soldering my modchip to my foreskin.
I have bathed several times since and neither motherboard nor chip show signs of corosion.
Do I need a Knife to get new skins?

Do no use standard tap water to wash you electronic parts. It will cause corrosion! When they are washed at the factory it is sometimes a water based solution however it is distilled water with a chemical mix to prevent corrosion and actually remove flux or other contaminants. Also they are baked afterwards to prevent moisture under chips. You mainboard has 3 BGA chips that are virtually impossible to remove moisture from underneath without baking. The best thing to use is a spry flux cleaner because it is non conductive, non corrosive and will evaporate in a matter of minutes.

Careful though, alcohol can be just as bad if your not careful. It may take some time to fully evaporate, and can still cause damage.
I use hot glue all the time, but as it was said, its pretty much permanent, so double check before using.
All in all, Deep frying the whole damn box is the safest...........and tastiest!

So are you guys saying that instead of soldering you can use silicon or super glue?
xboxmodder4life

no they are saying..to hold the the wires down so the connections dont come loose especially at the D0 point

I've heard of putting machines through a "soak test" but I'm not sure if this is how to do it!
