hey i just put blue leds into the 1234 above the controller ports but i couldnt get the drill to go thru the shielding.................so i took some tin snips to it.....and it was really sharp so i covered all the cut sides with tape......and looks like crap ......s0o i was wondering if the lower half of the shielding can be removed with out any bad "sideafects" if any thing should be added into it or taken out when its removed pls tell me.

It isn't really needed unless you have an older tv, becasue it will effect some older tv's with out the shielding

Had a mod chip short once because all screws weren't in? So I would suggest keeping the sheilding because it connects all the MB ground points.

I easily cut the sides of my shielding off with a dremel. It cut like butta. It would be just as easy to cut the front off as well. This way you still have the shielding on the bottom and back just for that little piece of mind.

just take all of it out
the motherboard is not grounded by it
the shielding is actually grounded by the motherboard to create a faraday cage or something like that
it is to prevent interference and shit like that
mine has been out for months and it is absolutely fine

Why the hell do you think it is there then. If you times the bit of tin buy the millions of xboxes sold you would have a shit load of metal.
@newtomoding if you have a cable tv box just wip the lid off it and put your wireless router or mobile phone near it and see what it does to the picture!!!
