Okay here we go...


I'm running WinXp on both pcs

i have 1 pc which connects to the internet via a usb modem.

I have 1 network card which is connected to the 2nd pc in the living room.
Internet sharing is enabled so i can go on the internet on the 2nd pc.

I have a 2nd network card that's connected to the xbox.

i tried al sorts of stuff

first i followed this tutorial: Clicky

I wasn't paying attention so i only saw later that this wasn't the right tutorial for me.

Then i noticed that the internet sharing wasn't working.
So i tried al sorts of stuff but the 2 network cards kept having a conflict.

There was no way i could get internet sharing on.

So after trying alot of things (ip adress, gateway, dns server settings for example)

I decided to remove the 2nd network card.

i booted my pc and the internet sharing worked again.

I called my friend and he made like some sort of Network bridge.
and set everything up.

So, the 2nd pc has its internet and if i look on my xbox i see in evox that it shows the ip adress of the xbox.

So it should work ... not...

I tried ftping...won't work.
Tried looking up the weather....won't work
Tried pinging it via cmd but still no.

And that's where i am now.

Hope someone can help me

might be a little helpful for you to list the different settings for each network card and the xbox. (like IP, subnet mask, gateway and any other info that you think might be useful)

i'll try to list everything but i don't really understand it all.

Some things are also translated from dutch so maybe i got some things wrong.

On my Pc:
In my network connections i have 4 icons:

1) Speed Touch USB (this is my Internet connection)

Has internet sharing set to "on"


2) Mac-bridgeMiniport

Which has 2 adapters set:

a ) Downstairs
b ) Xbox

(both network connections)

Tcp/ip settings are set to:

Ip: 192.168.0.1
Subnetmask: 255.255.255.0

Default gateway and dns server settings are left blank

3) Xbox (the network connection to the xbox)

4) Downstairs (the network connection to the 2nd pc)

These 2 are also linked to the Mac-bridgeminiport thingy.


On The Xbox:

I have almost the same problem, but the difference is, I can FTP the Xbox with FlashXP fine, but I get DNS errors when trying to connect to XBL, that I didn't get before. I haven't changed my Network Setup that i'm aware of. I haven't been on XBL for a while (Addicted to City of Heroes,lol) but last time I checked, I could get on XBL just fine. I have a 2 NIC setup with ICS and a hub.

NIC 1 goes to the Cable Modem and has ICS, NIC 2 goes out to the hub, which is connected to the Xbox. All with CAT 5, as I wanted to be able to hookup my PS2 and the Xbox to the PC. Not to be used at the same time of course. I wanted to be able to be able to access the internet with my PC and XBL at the same time, as well as being able to connect to XBox Connect. My set up worked for the longest, but suddenly I get DNS errors when trying to connect to XBL.

At first I thought I might have been Banned, but when I hook up the Xbox to the cable modem directly, I can get on with no problem.

I'm hoping it's just the settings in ICS being messed up. It isn't my firewall, Im using Kerio, and it was configured to let XBL through, but even with it disabled, I still get DNS errors.

PLEASE HELP!

Xbox's IP is showing as 192.168.0.2 in Evox, and in the Dash with the subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 with 192.168.01 as the gateway.

Hmm, another weird thing:

If i switch my cables:

xbox in nic 1 instead of nic 2
and
2nd pc in nic 2 instead of nic 1

I can ftp to the xbox and do everything else...

but the 2nd pc ...no connection.

i'm thinking that my 2nd nic may be broken...
