the new samsung`s are a little better then philips and not as good ans the good ol 605's... so no cd-r's for you... you could try to pot tweak it... or get an older 605 lens...

Samsungs are very pooly designed and the ejecting problem is a common fault, and there is nothing you can do to fix it apart from buying a new drive.
I know 3 people with samsungs and all drives have this fault.
Try tapping the tray while its trying to eject, I've found this the best way to get it to open.

Tapping the drive is best, its how I get mine to open.........

yeah, one of my sammy's does this too..
something gets screwy with the eject mechanics in the front. i took mine all apart, and changed chassis with another 605 that had a busted dvd tray, and now it ejects fine.. while the other one still has the fault...
EDIT: but the new philips are the best i think.. they work better, and it reads cd-rs for me.

Yeah, tapping the tray to get it to open is the only fix I'm afraid

Open the drive up and see if the belt is broken. I had the same issue and the rubber belt broke but i fixed by replacing the broken belt with a little round rubberband.
You'll see two spools in the front end of the drive mechinism..if there is no rubber belt in the groves of the spools, then its your belt that broke which can be fixed with a rubberband.
