Im just alittle confused what the eeprom is.

The eeprom is a chip in your xbox that contains certain details of your xbox.
Most of the reference to the EEPROM here, is actually a file called EEPROM.bin, this is an image of your eeprom chip, created by evox or some other eeprom backup agent.

Yes, it's best to keep a backup in case you break it and you need to rebuild your HDD.

So if I keep abackup and my xbox starts going off the rails I can use the backup and use xboxhdd to rebuild the hard disk and it will be like when I bought it.
