Can anyone refer me a good xbox mod chip to buy and from what site?
I want it to cover all versions of the xbox and be mainly solderless. Also a pre-programmed bios that is easy to reload and an on and off switch for Xbox live.
A one wire solder installation is fine (two is alright)
I'd greatly appreciate any help on this

Do some reshearch, read the modchip guide chart on here and look at some of the online shops then narrow your decisions down and come back to us.
Also you cannot use a solderless chip on a V1.6 xbox. And the modchips will not come pre-flashed with a hacked bios as this is illegal.

Chip - Xenium Ice Solderless Chip
You can control the chip (on/off) via the menu when using live.

OK, I have done some researching. My friend can solder, but i'd rather have a modchip with the least soldering in place.
The regular mod chips without solderless adapter support all versions.
The problem is that I want a solderless mod chip with a one wire solder for xbox v1.6
All of the solderless adapters/modchip kits say that the chip will work on every version except 1.6
My question is :
Should I take a chance with my friend installing 8 or so wires with a possibility of the wires disconnecting? (my ps2 crapped out mysteriously after working for a year or so with a soldered modchip)
or is there a modchip with solderless adapter that also allows me to solder a wire for version 1.6 xboxes
I've tried to check the version xbox I have, but to no avail. I don't want to open it and am eager to purchase a chip- (going out of country for semester)

There are No Soldreless chips/adapters for the 1.6 xbox's at the moment, although some are being developed.

well it looks like if you want a chip, you have to open it anyway. that is the only way to be sure what version you have.

If the manufacture date is after 18th March 2004 then it will be a 1.6 xbox.
@Tutyet, Yea I have answered these kind of questions quite a few times. Its far easier to leave a decent reply once the user has narrowed it down to 1 or 2 different chips cause then they can ask specific questions if there is something which they do not understand.

the Xbox was manufactured in 2003
I've narrowed it down to Xecuter Xenium or SMart chips
they all pretty much seem to have the same mods
Any perferences to which one?
