Ok i am completely new to modding and i want to figure some things out, 1st of all how do i put a dashboard onto my xbox? Do i have to have a network card in my pc? And another thing, how hard are solderless mod chips to install and what else do i have to do to be able to back up games on my hdd?

Solderless Chips are fairly easy to install, here for installation guides.
You need a mod chip to back up games and a bigger HDD

The simplest solution is to download the Slayer CD and just install that. It doesn't require any networking.
