Nothing i do seems to work! I tried the utt on tihs forums, i tried http://www.how2xbox.com/hd.htm

and after a whole, i got it once and it seemed to work. Copied all the new files to C and E, then did the UDE exploit. Put it backj in my xbox, and all i get is the "service required" error.

But now i cant even get that far. Sometimes it detecs the hard drive in my BIOS, but then once the linux is booting, there are a whole bunch of "read error blah blah blah" And the same thing when i boot to number 3 to try and unlock it. (even though i'm doing the hot-swap ever time to unlock it)

and then when my BIOS does NOT detect it, it boots up linux fine, without the erroes, but then when i go to "build new hard drive from scratch" it doesnt detect my hard drive.

So then i was going to try formatting i with my computer so then i plug both hard drives in, they are both detected, but then it freezez when loading windows!

anyone ahve any ideas here? I really need some help.

ok, so i got a little farther. I'm trying just booting stright from the PC (no hot-swap) It detects it in the BIOS fine. BUt when i boot up to linux, i get the read errors when loading, then when i try to run, it detects my ahrd drive, but it says its locked. So HOW DO I UNLOCK IT! I tried booting to 3 at the begining, and hitting "unlockhd -a" and it gives me all the info, but it still says "drive lock secuerity---ON" on whatever, and is still locked next time i try and boot.


What do i need to do to unlock it. Do i need a different eeprom? Becuase i mean right now the 1 on the CD is the one i got form the old ahrd drive...but how would i get any other one.


I just need some way to unlock it without a hot-swap, because that isnt working... i tried just o reformat it with the windows disk, but that jsut locked up.


It makes the unlocked little "click" when i boot it up in the pc, but sitll no luck.

no, you don't need another eeprom. infact you need to secure that eeprom because if you lost it, you will have one expensive paper weight. btw, you can try dos unlocking program. If you locked your hd using xboxhdm, the master should be set to XBOXSCENE so use it or the password that you use to lock the hd in the first place to unlock it. I haven't try the xboxhdm locking option but I have great success with unlockx using DOS

also, i'm not sure if xboxhdm require you to put your xbox hd in the primary ide channel/cable etc... when locking/unlocking but i know with xbrowser, it said make sure the hd is attached to the primary ide cable etc...

btw, what is the error # that you see on your tv? just "service error" or is there a #.

ummm interesting...

which means, the xboxhdm didn't generate the right key or you didn't use the right eeprom etc... try to unlock it using unlockx and then relock it using xboxhdm. btw, did the eeprom you put in the eeprom folder in xlinux the eeprom you got from your xbox that you try to upgrade the hd? If yes, you might want to run evox using your stock hd and run the backup option again and download it and use it. It could be it is corrupted or something funny etc... just waste a cd but it might help.

ok thanks guys, i got it. Turned out i locked the hard drive using a cd with xboxhdm 1.6. So i had to unlock it with that, then lock it with the version 1.9 CD.
