Whats the release date for the new MXM dash?
Is it still before Xmas this year?
SupaDawg
not looking like it bro. Ben is a pretty busy guy, and this is still very much a solo effort.

but allthou i am yet to see a wip build... *wink*wink* ... I assure you that when it's done it'll be something special.

It appears he is going to be away for awhile and I am unsure of when he will return.
I am sure he would encourage you to use another dashboard of your choosing for now, if you feel that his is not updated enough at the moment.

Here's hoping ot he returns soon beerchug.gif

Cool, glad you keep tabs on him better than me...

Also his last post in the MXM forum was July 22nd not 23rd, which is what I really meant but, whatever... dry.gif

I don't keep tabs, I just clicked his username then 'find all posts'...
That showed this to be his latest post in the MXM forum:

It's a bigger issue then just people complaining about incompleteness.

There is a "vision" (yeah, I know that sounds pretentious) for MXM, and there are things that NEED to be complete before I can put a release "into the wilds".

Plug-and-play and events are the primary thing, but completing those involves touching a LOT of stuff.

I will say this: I will give everyone a chance to contribute with an interim release when these goals are met. That means I will release something, even if scripts are not complete (allowing non-WIP scripters a changce to contribute to the PnP library that will be built into the "complete" release.)

Which shows the date as the 29th August...

Actually, fudge that, it's later still:

Umm..it doesnt matter guys when his last post was and its not a competition to see who can find his last post smile.gif
The main thing is there is no new new MXM...no Ben then no MXM.
MasterZ
Where are you Ben?
SupaDawg
I have walked away.

MXM was the first dash i ever installed... easiest dash i ever installed.

but.. I would like to let everyone know that last night i switch to UX.

I feel bad that I have given up hope for a new release, but i'd also like to stay on the curve... and the most recent UX does that.

That said, i have been working on a proper build of Project Mayhem for MXM with Chokemaniac for some time now.... and it will be finished very soon.

Thanks Ben, and when you come back... I'll be back.

I stick my nose into the MXM forum every few weeks in the hopes of some kind of good news. I loved mxm when it came out but it has since fallen behind the pack. This makes me very sad. UnleashX is the new big boy on the block in my mind and am completely content with that. I just wish there was still that little bit of competition between them.

If only MXM and UnleashX could merge into one MegaDash with just a small sprinkle of Ava (Kai integration only). Sigh...here's to dreaming. beerchug.gif While I'm wishing I'd also like a new car and for someone else to finish remodelling my kitchen. jester.gif

Man, UnleashX combined with MXM with XBMC's KAI integration.......WOW!!!

Now THAT would be a dash!

That would be THE dash. I can't think of any feature that would be necessary after that...except for maybe the ability to play dvds from the dash.
SupaDawg
remember, both mxm & unleash-x are 1-man projects... a joint venture might not be too far fetched.
Jezz_X
I think i remember a long while ago that after the next stable release BJ was thinking of starting a whole new project because it was getting hard to change MXM underlying source so much

Dont quote me though

What feature does MXM has that would benefit unleashx ,let me guess oh none.
seriously i think mxm is the dead and no update could help that!!!

I'm not a skinner and I know nothing of scripting so I can't really comment on those aspects.

I have had problems getting truly random music with the past few builds of UX. I've never had this problem with MXM. Really that's about all I can think of that MXM has over UX at the moment.
SupaDawg
actionscripting is the only thing that comes too mind.

skinning is also much easier in UX, but more options in mxm.

Nope, in the latest WIP build the games are built into MXM.
Jezz_X
I'm sure most people don't really care what the latest WIP has until the latest WIP becomes a Public blink.gif

Why would you want games built into a dashboard? huh.gif Wouldn't that just increase the xbe file size and cause even longer loading times? Please enlighten me. pop.gif
thetruethugg
I don't beleive the games are coded into the xbe itself, but rather plugin files. Besides, even if that's not the case, the embedded games can't be all that large. A few kilobytes aren't going to make a huge impression of filesize and/or loading times. Besides, I think someone tested the loading time of MXM vs. *, and it was equal too, if not faster than most (one of the more recent WIP builds).

Four games alltogether are about 50kb, so not really that much...

Wow 13k each game built in to the dash , these games must be spectacular laugh.gif and are sure to make me want to stop on my dashboard screen instead of using it to load Halo 2 .
Who needs 3gig games oozing eye candy and AI when you too can play "bustabrick" in a dashboard

I wish there was bustabrick (breakout) sad.gif Because that is one of my favourite games of all time, but I have my amiga emulator for that... And yes, breakout is better than halo 2.
