well i was messing with my xbox while it was on (im a noob i know) and it put a little pressure on the pwoer supply on accedent and sparks and smoke flew from it. to my supprise the power supply still worked but the video encoder has a hole coming from the inside and i get no audio or video. my HDD is fried but i dont really care for it becuase it was the stock 8 gig and im about to get a 160 gig in the mail today. but is their anyway to fix the encoder without having to send it in or buy a new Mobo?

if it's just the video encoder... it could be fixable... i could be ble to replace that.. but if it's the MCPX or the GPU or even the CPU it's not changabel.
bleugh
post a pic

somehow i doubt its just the video encoder though,

it's pretty easy to unsolder it and put a new one on, with two problems

1 - try getting a new encoder chip....you cant!
- if you can, you have to desolder off an old broken mobo
2 - probably the tracks taking power to the encoder are burned out too

ebay the board as broken and buy a new one from there,
busted mobos fetch around £7 GBP on ebay, new ones go for £30-40

good luck
