I've tried twice now to burn a game and both times I've gotten this error.

Error -10 at Sector 2297904 - Buffer Underrun - Command:2a Sense:05 ASC:21 ASCQ:02

I've been following The Complete Guide to Producing, Extracting, and Burning XBOX ISO Image Files tuturial. I'm at a loss to understand why this is happening. If anyone has some helpful pointers to a newbie at this I'd really appreciate it. uhh.gif

Are you burning cds or dvds? From the error looks like it more of your burner or burner software that is causing the problem.

I'm burning ritek dvd media on a new cyndyne (pioneer 105) burner.

This is from a GI or ISO image off the HD?

Do you have a really old computer?

Try Nero just for shits and giggles

Burning at 2X? 1X work?

Well..I'm using a amd k6-2 533 and its from a ISO on the hard drive. I guess I could put the burner in my other computer and see from there.

I'll give nero a shot. Have been burning at X1.
Mr Ed
Buffer underrun indicates your computer couldn't keep up with the data rate needed by the recorder.

Most drives these days have buffer underrun prevention (you do have to check that option in the burning software though.)

What OS are you running? Windows 95/98 had a lot more problems with multithreading. Your computer can handle 2000 or possibly XP. I'd recomend for burning you use one of these (or Linux)

I'm running 2000. I looked in recordnow max options and can't seem to find that option. Gonna try with Nero express I guess.

the file size says 4.47 GB (4,800,512,000 bytes) could it be the image is too big? the game in question is Genma Onimusha.
smokeingit
Genma Onimusha will not fit on a DVD-R, so all you will get are error's. it may boot up. but it wont play.

Ok...good. I thought I was following directions to the letter. Trying a different one now.

Is there a list of games that are similarly too large?

I'm too drunk to do a search myself right now, but there are threads here that list these games. Just do some searching. Should be under the DVD/CD Burning & ISO extraction/creation topic.

I know of these:
Shenmue II
Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance
