To answer your first question . yes you can use a program, evtool is real easy to use, to edit the bios and change the main color to orange. As for your second question I think it may be possible but im not sure how.

First you need to make the led red by cutting the legs (or desoldering) of the the front panel leds and flipping it over. Now the led will be red as default. Then you use xbtool (probably other programs work) and change the front led color to orange. Reflash the new edited bios and you are set.

if you care to switch to avalaunch, in the settings you can switch between green, red and orange.

is it just me or when you switch it to the so called "orange" it looks more yellow than "orange"
i think your best bet would to just buy some orange LEDs and solder them in. it would look a million times better.

Even though you're not good at soldering, you can solder the outside legs of the 2 bi-colored LEDs together(with a wire and make sure you dont connect anything to the middle) Good luvk and UnleashX can do that for you, but it wont be orange until the dash loads up.

Alternately, you can do some creative splicing to the yellow wires coming from the power/board to make the front leds always show amber. Splice the wires so that 5&6 splice together and then split back apart and plug normally into the connecter, and do the same with 7&8. I'm too tired to try to work the next part out, but some more wires spliced in the right place, back to your mod chip switch should be able to cut off the power to the green side, so that when you flip the mod chip switch off (or on, whichever way you want), the green side goes out, and you're left with red.
