Are there any brand/make of RF controllers that have the same PCB and button layout as the original "duke" controller? Would it be possible to swap internals from a 3rd party controller and use them in a "duke"?

Im sure it can be done with the newer S-Type controllers. Ive seen that Micron makes wireless controllers.
