For a couple of days i've been wondering about how cool it would be to have a 'clap' activated switch on my xbox. can it be done? or has it been done before?.
i've done a little search for one but didn't find anything,

Sure why not! Shit you could get a regular clapper, plug it into the wall, plug your box into that, hotwire your power button, and go! Its all a matter of willingness. Just do it.

thats true, if i wire it up to my on/off button could i just use a switch to turn the clapper off and still be able to use the on/off button as usual??

Sure why not there are always ways to bypass electronic components. Why don't you just put a button in your controller or memory card. It would be alot easier and less problematic.

I'm not sure how well it would work out, since it might be difficult to keep it on when you want it on and likewise for off.

The most practical mod that I know of for power would have to be the motion sensor one. Just wave the hand over the jewel and there ya go.. party time!
