I have a SmartXX chip soldered to the board and everything works. But how durable is that connection? I also hot glue the chip to the board, I don't want the solder to break if I move the Xbox around too much.

If it's soldered then the connection would be fine and you could take that xbox anywhere you please,but I don't know about the hot glue part you were just fine with the chip soldered 
I don't think the hot glue will hurt anything, it shouldn't pass current.
