I read on GameSpot that another update to Halo 2 has come out but I don't understand how the updates work since the game is on a DVD....are the updates made to the dashboard or C Drive or something? But, the updates unlock a new level in Halo 2....I dont have xbox live but how do I get the updates so I can use the new map?

Maybe this question is too early on but I was just wondering, thanks.

Beat the game on legendary (or heroic even?) to unlock the "Lockout?" multiplayer stage.

I haven't beaten the game and I have lockout. (Not since my last reformat anyways)

Foundations was the one that you had to beat to unlock (that or subscribe to live)

XBL had some new updates for Halo2, mainly rumble training, team training, and a full fledged team slayer. None of that team skirmish capture the flag bs. Now I can go back to killing people just for the sake of killing them. Woot.

ok thats good, but then there still updates to the game itself that can be gotten only through xbox live, so how do I get those if I do not have xbox live?

I'm not aware of any updates to the single player part of the Halo. All the updates available on Live only deal with LAN/Live multiplayer modes.
