So I've been reading alot of these boards, and successfuly modded my xbox v1.6 with the 1.7.5 ltools soft-mod 007 exploit. But I've seen a ton of tutorials but no video of what exactley to expect after you soft-mod, So I've thrown a few together for the newbs to see! For reference, I'm using PBL-Metroo, Evox M8 bios, Evolution X Dash, And ude2.
Here's a pic of what your dash and bios version settings look like (From your ms dashboard). That's how you find out your kernal and dashboard version... (these are mine)

Here's some videos of the installation of the mod itself...
http://freewebtown.com/jono/memcard.mpghttp://freewebtown.com/jono/007.mpg^^ Those arent mine... Just thought you might wanna see em again..
Anyway, After you get it installed when you startup your xbox with the power button you get greeted with this:
StartupAfter you get that you can do whatever, play a game (like me), or maybe ftp into it:
Ftp into itAnd then if you just wanna play a game you could turn on Xbox Kai, and play a little online halo 2:
Halo 2 Online!Anyway, I can make videos of whatever, So if your confsued about what you should be seeing then just ask me ot make a vid of it, and I'll post it! Also, If you startup your xbox with the reset button after using the ltools softmod, you'll be greeted the matrix like dashboard (MXM) seen when installing the exploit with 007. Thats all for now!

teh0ni0n,
Is there any chance that you can do the first 2 videos over again as it seems that web page has been taken down.

Graphical presentation is good.
My advice to the n00b like me is to read and read the forum, have a knowledge on simple networking and ftp. They also must know how to use a keyboard and mouse.

Nice video's.
Just remember to backup your EEPROM - I cannot stress this enough, its the only failsafe from total infuckingcredible destruction.

Great vids teh0ni0n!
Instead of doing the gamesave exploit via USB can I FTP into my Xbox and save ltools directly to the harddrive?
If so, I'm assuming the file stays zipped? also what directory should it be save in?
Thanks,

You can't ftp into it without first running ltools, since ltools starts a ftp server once you run it. You can't ftp into it without running the exploit first, so you need to put it on your hard-drive via usb or whatever first.... And it stays zipped, You just use the action replay software to load it onto your usb stick..

You need the gamesave exploit to get ftp access.

I've tried about everything I can think of and yet not able to get rolling. I made a USB to xbox connector and get an error "usb device not recognized" in XP when plugging it in, double and triple checked the wires?
I've tried my USB memory stick and 128meg and Action Replay although I got my PC to recognize the card it say there isn't enough room for game save when trying to copy it?
I've got a MS memory card any way to directly run that to the USB port?
I could use some ideas and suggestions....

Is there any chance you can change that eeprom.avi to a wmv or mpeg file. I am having problems running it on my computer.
These are just what I needed. Thank you very much.

Look up DVD2XBOX, you start the application an click on copy DVD/Game to Xbox Hard Drive, and make sure its the Game Directory of E: or F: and you are all set, just go into Evox or Ava or what ever you might use, and it should show up on the Games menu.

Is there a bios out for this softmod that returns to the evox screen after
ejecting a game? I hate having to shut down and restart everytime I put
a different disk in.

Yeah but Evox is hit and miss with the igr sometimes. I was just curious if
I could load the bios off my chipped box (it's the 4981 bios w/reset on eject)
onto the softmodded one?

nice vids, very helpfull, thanks
I'm gonna try and use the splinter cell softmod as soon as I get my new memory card so that I can transfer the save across.
Just one quick question, would it be better to download itools and use that (UDE I'm assuming), or install UXE using this tutorial
here?
I could do the UXE thing, but is it better to have Itools? It looks as easy as clicking the install button, plus you can choose from different dashboards if I'm not mistaken.
Anyways, thanks for the thread
