Whilst scanning ebay for cheap parts and stuff i came across a relly cool lightning effect skin that would go really well with the el string i have around the bottom edge of my box and the cc light i am about to install under my clear jewel

How good do they look once installed ie the edges of the stick on.

Also how har are they to get to stick on or is it a piece of p1ss

Decal Girl

I myself have a skin from Designerskins.com. It's quite thick and top quality. I really like it though. It's not that much of a pain in the ass to put on, but you should take your time. Easiest way it to wet the area with soapy water. Like 99 parts water, 1 part dish soap. This just keeps the area moist and the decal from unnecessarily sticking. Plus it's easier to get the air bubbles out. Hope that helps somewhat.

I'm so sick of people jumping on the "skinz are teh suk" bandwagon. Not everybody wants to risk screwing up a case, sanding off paint in small areas like the vents is not very fun. Not everyone can spraypaint good.
mdfirefighter
Thou shalt not discriminate. Skins are mods to. Be nice to people who can't paint.

I would recommend Decal Girl, not necessarily because they're "better" or whatever, I just got good and quick service from that site.

I'm not a huge fan of skins, but the brushed aluminum and bright silver-aluminum skins are pretty sweet and I got one for my other xbox that has been rebuilt to stock condition for Halo 2 on LIVE.

But really, this is real nice to have a good civilized discussion about skins with minumal bashing. rolleyes.gif

EDITS: for using the word "nice" far too many times!

I had a brushed aluminum skin from decalgirl that I was very happy with. Took about 90 minutes to apply, all told. ( I had the advanced or whatever with more pieces.) I took it off last night as I'm prepping to paint, and it was a bitch. Peeling, sanding, rubbing, goo gone, alcohol, sanding, rubbing... At least I know it was quality and wouldn't have peeled over time if I left it...

I guess I'm saying that if you think you might upgrade to paint later, it's better to wait. If you don't ever want to mess with paint, my decalgirl skin was nice.

BTW, please, for the love of all things xbox, do not get a bling-bling benjamins skin.

That is all.

skins do suck, face it....

Holy shit guys, people actually said, don't flame, I mean WTF. You don't like skins... ok... majority of people don't. You just look ignorant the more you flame and the less people read the thread. He didn't ask if skins sucked. So chill the fuck out.
makaveli91
There are some sweet looking skins out there, but i prefer kry Fuz.... I like the texture that is left after its dry.... Almost like it was meant to be there....
Eagle17
skins are a good way to start, I mean I had a skin when I first started modding but ultimately you get more satisfaction from a hand done paint job then a skin. But skins are great for the amateur modder who isnt concerned with the street cred {biggrin.gif}
the_beast
Nothing wrong with skins, if you take your time applying them.

Thank you for changing your skin streetchemistry, the other one was gay, no offense.
eminvil_12
flame me if you wants, didnt read the whole thread. but id rather pay a bit more money for paint than a skin.

Paint DOES look alot better than a skin. DONT ARGUE, though skins do look better than the paintjobs in the hall of shame or what ever its called, cant remember.

one colour scheme paintjobs look just as good as two colour.

and it is not very hard to pick up a spray can and press a nozzle. just make sure its even on the xbox.

SKINS SUCK. except a few ive seen

haha, yeah it fuckin sure was, i dunno what i was thinking... blink.gif lol! I figured ill put one with a pic of my xbox....
Big_L
personally I think skins are kinda gay. Not because they look bad, but because they are gay.

however, as far as the question "are they worth it?" is concerned, then yes they are definitely worth it. They give the xbox a whole new look which although might not get as much respect on these forums, your dumb friends will think its cool. And it is mad easy, I have a really stupid friend who put on a skin, so it can't be hard or anything. And they are mad cheap.

I just think they are gay. wink.gif
the_beast
I have seen plenty of painted Gayboxes also biggrin.gif
