The verbatim is a DVD+R AND DVD+RW drive. If you want a plus format drive then this is what you are looking for. If you are looking for a DVD-R/-RW then you are looking at the wrong drive. There are two competeing formats for dvd recordables (+ and -). A DVD+R/+RW disc won't record on a DVD-R/-RW recorder and vice versa. Please don't ask which format is better as it will either produce another sensless argument or nasty responses from people who are tired of hearing arguments over which format is better. Both formats are good find a drive with a good price and supports media which you can get a good deal on. Right now staples is having a special on the Cendyne/Pioneer 4 speed dvd burner for $240-$50 mail-in rebate ($189.94 I believe). However if you go to www.spoofee.com and check out the coupon codes available and order this drive by phone you can get it for as low as $150. By the way this drive is a DVD-R/-RW drive. go to www.meritline.com for sweet deals on Ritek DVD-R discs. You can get a pack of 25 for $28 and if you order in bigger quantity you can end up getting them for less per disc. I hope this helps.
