I know I know.. the spiderchip is solderless.. however I can either get a longer? screw and hope it sits well (sinse the first one I modded screw hole stripped)..

But lets just say.. the solderless way failed...
and I would like to use the pin header on a 1.6.

is the rebuild of the lpc the same (on bottom of board)?
can I just rebuild the lpc like normal and use pin header?

yes - use the lpc rebuild from the smartxx guide and you should be fine
