i have just put in my new XBOX HD (250 GB) maxtor. it tells me that i need to update my xbox with xbox live. should i connect to XBL./

If you singed onto xbox live before changing your hard drive, then you will get banned upon connecting to xbox live, whether your chip is on or off. Ans doesn't it only say that when you select xbox live from the dashboard?

should i just delete the Udata and t DATA. that being all of the game saves wouldn't that mean that all records of xbl are deleted.

well you could change you eeprom, then you should be able to connect to Live with no problem, youll probably want to do this anyway if you have Live, since im sure you dont want to stop playing just cuz you got a new HD

i bought a second xbox to go on live with all i wan't to do is get acess to my dashboard again.

also. if i were to connect and get a ban
would my Gamer Tag also get banned or just my eeprom.

because if it is just my eeprom i don't care cuz that is what the secound xbox is for.

When you connect and get it updated it will ban your xbox eeprom and your hard drive, but not your gamertag. I say since you have another xbox(for live), then just let it connect and download the updates, since it is preventing you from doing stuff.

well i it wont' ban me (never thought i would be upset about this)

but anyway should i just reformat my Hard drive but take off the games saves then repartion the drives.

you're already been banned, update the dash, it wont stop unless you unhook your network cable (but since xbox dash knows it's connected and checked for a link youre probably already banned so do it and move on)

well unfortuatly my party at my job was cancelled and i just got back.

it tried mike's suggestion but the probelm is not moving on (like it really is htat emotional) it is that i can't because it will say xbox is udating system and then it says xbox live is not responding then i try to connect to with my xbl xbox and it works like it usually does.

I also can't ftp games into the modded xbox?'

i don't remember reading any of this before.

should i just delete all of my games saves which were saved to my comp and try to do this again with out the game saves.

You've already been banned, thats why it says that xbox live is not responding. Have you tried reformating your hard drive, or at least erasing everything in c: and then replacing it from your backup?

i can't ftp over to it. so i can't ftp over tehe c drive again.

but how would i prevent this from happening again

Sorry to butt in insanitytest. I was just gonna ask what will happen if my xbox live gets updated?

The thing is I went and watched Chronicles of Riddick (movie) in my xbox, the kernel now is:

K: 1.00.5101.01
D: 1.00.5960.01

So what does this mean? Before the kernel was:

K: 1.00.5838.01
D: 1.00.5960.01

I don't go on xbox live so will this give me problems later on?

only if u were to soft mod because of the exploits u have to use a difrent ude.

but with the great technolgy of UXE (ultimate xbox exploit) the K: (aka kernal) verssions are aceptable

but in general it all is a matter of what u plan on doin wit ur xbox in the future
but if any 1 has any suggestions on what to delete because if i were ust to repartion the drives with the same data the same problem will hapen

alright this will be my last post on this topic unless somin else comes up (or if my queston doesn't get answered)
for reasons of making the topic being answered easier i will just put it out generally

1. should i delete both T and U data for the gamesaves.

2. where are dashboard updates sent to (i think it is the C: )

3. are there any other files that are transferred to the xbox when live is being updating.

What i plan on doing is to delete all traces of xbox live (or as much as i can) through dashboard updates and gamesaves then refromating the c,e, and f drives.

then hopefully i will be able to get this working finally
