hi

i have always been scared about installing a chip in my cristal xbox but after i looked at the diagram i dont think its so hard! the only question i have is what wire should i use when i installed the extra lans (lan1, lan2, lan3) i know that the best thing to use would be Kynar Wire but i was wondering if anything else would be possible to use like for example eithernet wire or one of the wires from the wire install.

which also leads me to another question.....

why are the different wires on the wire install in different colours? is this just to help the new people out?

any help will be greatly apriciated.

many thanks
Xombe
Stick with Kynar, and keep the wires nice and short, and not crossing in any way.

These are current carrying wires, so stick with what you know will carry it strongly and safely.

And, yes, the diagrams are color-coded just as a matter of reference. Give it a shot! If you can solder a d0, you can run the wires needed for the LPC rebuild. wink.gif

i think thye should include like 30cm of Kynar wire with the mod chips!

Heh, maybe so...

But a bit more info:
QUOTE
"When doing PCB rework, it is proper
technique to use 30AWG Kynar.
Sure, you can get away with using the wire that came in the install kit."

So, either use the install wire kit, or make sure you pickup 30AWG wire in order to make sure you have a cleanest connection.
