Thank you for your understanding and please delete this post if I am a nusance. I want to read and write to my x-box from my PC for the purpose of altering files in the game Project gotham racing 2 and TOCA race driver 2. I do not wish to get on "X-box live" or the internet with my x-box. Am I correct in assuming that I need a "network card" in my PC (10/100) and a cross-over cable from my X-box to my usb port on my computer using FTP? Do I need to change my "dashboard" or burn a new bios to communicate between the two? I am trying to see how much effort this will require and whether it is worth the trouble.
Thanks! smile.gif

get a modchip, or softmod, and once you have that u need a router
to connect your pc eternet cord to router and your xbox ethernet cord to your router, and there should be two lights lit up when this is done, find out your ftp address, but make sure you have all this hooked up before you power on your xbox, get flashfxp from flashfxp.com and connect to your xbox
put the ip adress in and the password and username are xbox
any more questions anyone?

If you get a "patch" cable to go from pc - xbox you have wasted your money. you need a "crossover" cable. both are ethernet cables, just dif types. you also need a network card in your pc, if you dont already have one. but before you do anything, read up on
tcp/ip networking.

my way is noob proof, meaning no way to fail and it sets up a dhcp transfer and i dont know if using just a cable from your cpu to xbox will do that so i would take my advice and get a router.. it simplifies things

your kidding right? did you read his post? aside from the fact that you want him to spend $50 bucks more than
he needs to, adding a router into the picture would only complicate things. you obviously
dont know what a router does. if you knew anything about networking you would have at least said get a switch. i suggest you also read up on basic networking principles.

sorry i meant crossover cable thats why i reposted, but for someone new wouldnt just banging in the cable from his pc to xbox and using flash fxp be easier and cheaper?.
i use mine all the time never had a problem.
all the guy wants to do is transfer a few files back and forth...

do what you want, but in the end router will help you out the most rather then a cable.
