recently i got myself a 2.4 gb avi file yes you're probably r like wtf <<;; and is unable to play it but the interesting is that evox/xbmc returns the dash as 2.4 gb
while uix returns it as -1,824,827,392 and on my computer its 2.29 GB (2,470,139,904 bytes)

j/w is there a limit on a file size, ntfs / fat32 ???

try pressing y then pressing a in the dashboard and emulators sections
JbOnE
1 - delete the save dir for the dash E:\\UDAUA\\0ffeeff0, this will clear out the cached menus with nothing in them and let you be able to use ones made from the correct paths you entered.

2 - listing from g partition is part of the update fixes to be released tonight

3 - file size is a glitch i'm trying to square away - apparently the returnable scriptable values overload with really values which is why you get the - number value

...if i change the paths to (it restarts the xbox when i click on dashboards and emulatoers in harddrive section)...

dry.gif I'm having sort of the same problem...

In the UIX readme they state:
"Hard Drive Menu: Will load title lists on 1st use. To refresh the list of a given menu press Y in
the menu and you will be prompted to resfresh the cache. This will update the lists after adding or
removing a title from hd or after changing option to list titles from xbe internal names to using folder
names."

I don't get a chance to Press "Y" to refresh inside the Emulators menu, cause as soon as I press "A" to enter the Emulators menu, my system reboots!

I have never seen what's inside the emulators menu... it crashes before I get there. grr.gif

My UIX setup:
----------------
*Installed directly on F:\ drive right next to evoxdash.xbe
*My system first boots to EvoX, then I run UIX from there.
*I edited the uix.ini to read...
[Emulators]
Path=Apps\Emulators
Name=Emulators
*The emulators are found in f:\Apps\Emulators\

Should the ini read one of the following?:
Path=Apps\Emulators\
Path=f:\Apps\Emulators\
Path=Apps\\Emulators
Path=Apps/Emulators

...If someone could help, that would be cool cause I realy like this dash!

OK, I still can't get it to work.

I have made the folder f:\apps\dashboards\UIX\
and placed UIX.XBE and the user.interface.x.dash folder in there. I'm booting to EvoX then running UIX.

Every time I go into "Emulators" or "Dashboards" in UIX, I get a reboot.

Here is my UIX.ini:
[Music On Boot]
volume=0.95
enabled=true
[Main Menu Tabs]
Main Tab 4=System
Main Tab 3=Hard Drive
Main Tab 2=Hard Drive
Main Tab 1=Music
[AutoLaunch Media]
Launch On Insert=ask
[Naming Method]
use xbe names=true
[Dashboard Settings]
Current Skin=green
Dash Style=stock
[Network Settings]
XboxIPType=dhcp
XboxIP=192.168.0.100
SubnetMask=255.255.255.0
Gateway=192.168.0.1
FTP Login=xbox
FTP Password=xxxx
FTP Port=21
FTP Show Sizes=true
FTP Use Caps=false
[Applications]
Path=Apps
Name=Applications
[Dashboards]
Path=Apps\Dashboards
Name=Dashboards
[Emulators]
Path=Apps\Emulators
Name=Emulators
[Games]
Path=games
Name=Games

Does anyone see anything wrong with this setup? Any help would be appreciated,

Update to help people out...

I Figured it out: UIX doesn't like you to have subfolders.
Place all of your Emulators, Dashboards & Games in folders on the root of your drive. Don't nest folders.

dry.gif Thanks to all of you above who responded & helped me figure this out. dry.gif

Hey jbone or anyone who knows about this issue and has fixed it,

My Xbox details:
- Xbox v1.6
- X3 modchip w/ x3_1959 BIOS
- Trying to use UIX as my main dashboard (unfortunately doesn't work!) <- duh!

Ok, so I tried the above quoted stuff, did not help.

My .ini file contains paths:

[Apps]
Path=F:\apps\
Name=Applications

[Games]
Path=F:\games\singleplayer\
Name=SinglePlayer

The other two (emulators, dashboards) are unchanged.

I am not a nooB, just did not have an account smile.gif. I am Intermediate biggrin.gif

Anyways, if you know how to resolve the issue besides putting my folders in the ROOT dir where UIX is, then please post it.

Thank you!

P.S. - UIX Rox!

Meaning the xbox still restarts for any of the four options (apps, games, emus, or dashes).
ACARiD
First of all: Do not put the drivename in the app path.
Second: Do not use subfolders (as stated). Anything you have menu pointing at has to be one single submenu down from the root of the drive.

Do you have paths "F:\EMULATORS" and "F:\DASHBOARDS" too? Then skip the "F:\" part.

Your INI section should look like this:

[Apps]
Name=Applications
Path=apps

[Games]
Name=SinglePlayer
Path=singleplayer

[Emulators]
Name=Emulators
Path=emulators

[Dashboards]
Name=Dashboards
Path=dashboards

And the respective stuff should have one own directory in the root of F:, so on the drive you should have the directories "apps", "singleplayer", "emulators" and "dashboards" situated directly in the F:\ root. You can not as of right now use several-level subdirectories, or even *one* subdirectory. Maybe TeamUIX might change this in future releases.

So, main things are:
All mapped paths *must* be direct subdirs under the F: root.
You shall *NOT* enter drivename and/or directory markings (i.e "/" or "\") in the path.

Hope this info helps. beerchug.gif

Hey ACARiD,

Thanks for the prompt reply.

I hate to say this but that didn't help biggrin.gif. I took everything pertaining UIX out of the xbox, downloaded latest copy available for download (today) and fireup the dash.

The original INI does not have paths. Therefore, I didn't touch that either. So I go on my merry way to HardDrive > Applications and the xbox restarts again.

UIX is my main dashboard located in C:\

I have in my F:\ drive
1) apps
2) games <- No more SinglePlayer, MultiPlayer - Just Games
3) emulators
4) dashboards

Now there is nothing wrong with the paths or the name that is in the INI and still the same problem. So I guess with v1.6 and X3 BIOS there isn't much luck until TeamUIX figures something out.

Anyways, thank you for your help and will keep messing with it until its fixed.

I would try to delete everything in e:\udata\0ffeeff0\

Then restart your dash & give it a try.

Hey the_xbox_guy,

That didn't work thats why I asked for someone who had it working. Apparently yours works which is cool, because I can't wait anymore biggrin.gif

Ya, deleting files did not work. However, there is one thing that I noticed when I was deleting file in 0ffeeff0. Before xbox would delete 23Files and 2Folders, and the last time I deleted 26Files and 2Folder, which tells me that something is happening but I cannot access my folders biggrin.gif

I can't even cache the files into the 0ffeeff0 folder myself (can't comprehend that much HEX) so that I don't have to worry about the INI anymore.

Like I said I will keep trying and keeping my fingers crossed.
Thank you for replying.

mateoleone
I have a 1.6 and the M8 Evox bios for 1.6 and I couldn't get it to work until I did this. It's wierd so bare with me.

Yeah the wierdest thing. I got the games and dashboards to show up. I had to copy the uix.xbe and it's folder directly to the f drive. Then I put my games in the games folder and my dashboards in a folder called dashboards both on the f drive as well. Then I renamed all the dash xbe's to default xbe and then I launch uix from f. Then I went to the individual menus and hit y and it worked they showed up. Then I could ftp the uix.xbe and it's folder over to my pc and back to the c drive and now it works. But it wouldn't work in c until I got it to see it in the f drive first. It's the wierdest thing!?

Don't ask why, I have no idea but it worked for me. Maybe it will work for you. huh.gif

P.S. After I did that it changed my ini to this

[Games]
Name=Games
Path=games
[HDDLoader]
Name=GameThief
Path=hddloader
[Dashboards]
Name=Dashboards
Path=dashboards
[Applications]
Name=Applications
Path=apps
[Network Settings]
FTP Use Caps=false
FTP Show Sizes=true
FTP Port=21
FTP Password=xbox
FTP Login=xbox
Gateway=192.168.0.1
SubnetMask=255.255.255.0
XboxIP=192.168.0.112
XboxIPType=dhcp
[Dashboard Settings]
Dash Style=stock
Current Skin=Blue
[Naming Method]
use xbe names=true
[AutoLaunch Media]
Launch On Insert=ask
[Main Menu Tabs]
Main Tab 1=Music
Main Tab 2=Hard Drive
Main Tab 3=Evox
Main Tab 4=System
[Music On Boot]
enabled=false
volume=0.89
[Emulators]
Path=hddloader
Name=Game Thief

Don't ask I have no idea.

P.P.S. the "game thief" thing is what I call px HDDLoader, and when I did it I left the drive names and paths for games, dashes, etc. the same as they were originally in the ini.
the_xbox_guy
Hmmm. Mine is a v1.0 so I probably can't help to much more but...

I can tell you my setup & maybe it'll help:

*I boot from F:\
*I renamed UIX.xbe to EvoXdash.xbe (so it would boot from my bios)
*I placed the UIX folder in the root (after copying the audio & fonts to it)
*All my xbe's for games/apps are named "default.xbe"
*All games are of the form f:\Games\<Game Name>\default.xbe
*All apps are in of the form f:\Apps\<App Name>\default.xbe
*I had to delete the cache in e:\udata\0ff..ff0.\ because of a spoiled previous boot
*My .ini file paths have just one word, the name of the folder in f:... I didn't put in "F:\" just "Path=Apps" and "Path=Games"

When I rebooted it worked.

I have read that for the v1.6's you need a fixed UIX.xbe <--maybe thc lite only?

You probably already know all of this & have heard it a million times, but for the sake of being complete. wink.gif

Hey mateoleone,

Guess what your idea works. However, my thing was even more ridiculous. I had to put my Dashboards, Apps, and Emulators folders in E:\ so that the cache can find them in F:\ (Wierdest of all biggrin.gif) then I got 2 of each items in my apps, emus, and dashes (DUH! - LOL!!!)

Yep, the UIX.xbe has been fixed and thats the one I put in, since I have "v1.6" biggrin.gif.
Thank you for your help, I was doing almost exactly the same things that you wrote in your reply. However, the programming part of the UIX did not want to take that into consideration.

I followed mateoleone's post and it works now. I have put a hold on to using UIX as my default as of now.
Prolem: I have DVD2Xbox and DVDx in my Apps folder. And guess what? the Apps part doesn't like it. The xbox restarts as soon as I do refresh cache.

So I remove them folders and restart dash and it works fine biggrin.gif (LOL) funniest thing ever.

Well, I am glad this thing is fixed and now I gotta find other ppl who are experiencing this prob and redirect them to this thread.

Thank you all for your help!

Goodday all of ya,

Atlast its alive. Thanks to you all. The whole day reading and testing and now it is working. Now only one thing install it like the main-dash. Can somebody give me a hand. blink.gif
noeclipse
biggrin.gif What can I say "rogiermars".

Umm chk out post in this thread by "mateoleone"... last post on PAGE1 of this thread.

mateoleone put uix.xbe and its folder in "f:\" first and then moved the uix.xbe and folder to "c:\" (after caching the games and stuff).

1) since the search algorithm defaults to E: as the first search drive, i would say put UIX as your main dash (in your c:\)
2) create an "applications" or "dashboards" or "emulators" or "games" folder in E:
3) put some default.xbe in that folder then run UIX from C: (as your main dash)
4) goto HardDrive -> <foldername> which you put in E:
5) If that loads (then you are lucky)
6) Press Y and Say YES to referesh cache
7) Again if you are lucky then the cache will pick up the folders from F: as well

Otherwise, I am not sure tongue.gif

I am PRETTY sure that you already have tried this but thats all I can think of for now. I do not want to mess with the code.

Hi All,

Same problem, No Apps or games show in the HD menu. I have a 1.6 PAL box with Ltools loaded.

Whats even more weird is that when in the apps or Games etc menu and you refresh the list "Y" and "A" it often comes up with a random char title (sometimes even what looks like japanese writing!!)

Still wont let you lauch the programe.

UIX rocks, but this is a real bummer of a bug!!

Can anyone help?

Hey Steove,

Again, I am pretty sure that you also would have tried what I have quoted from JbOnE. But if not chk it out and see what happens.

Also, try to Disable <read titles from xbe>

I think this should work. If not then I don't know, sorry!

Thanks noecilipse,

But your right, I have tried deleting the save directory, but this did not fix the problem.

One question do you delete all the files/folders in the 0ffeeff0 directory, or just the cache directory.

At this stage I haver only deleted the apps.cache games.cache etc files. When I rebooted the system and tried to access the apps menu it would re-boot, If I tried again it would then be able to access the menu, but still no apps listed???

Beats the hell out of me......

I also changed the UIX setting to not read the xbe titles, still no go......

Is this posiblily an Ltools interaction error?

Has anyone else continued to have this problem?

noeclipse
Hey Steove,

Yep all this stuff is weird.
Here are my problems with stuff not loading.
I had DVDx and DVD2XBOX in Apps (you might have already read this). And the stupid thing would restart.

After I move it to some other drive or into another folder it worked biggrin.gif (funniest shit ever)
Right now my DVDx and DVD2XBOX are in Emulators folder - LOL!

-------------------
About your 0ffeeff0 folder. Delete that folder or everthing inside it from E:\UDATA\

When you start UIX, all the xip and xap files are stored in that folder (0ffeeff0), thats why you have to delete for the cache to clear out.

Also, try putting just 1 program in the apps folder. For me boXplorer worked. I do not know about Ltools. Haven't tried that yet.
