Full Version: Xbmc As Dash - What Mod-chip?

I have a crystal 1.6 xbox with an aladdin chip.

I have tried everything to get IGR to work with xbmc as my dash, and it doesn't.
I've noticed that many other people on this forum have the same problem and there seems to be no solution.

My IGR used to work on the same xbox with evox as a dash.

So i decided on getting a new mod-chip, as i read that some are better, you can flash them etc.etc

Which mod chip will work properly on my 1.6 and would give me in game resets.
I am using the latest XBMC 2-1-2005, and i am very impressed.

Thanks

PS if there is anyone using the aladin on a 1.6 with success on IGR, please let me know as i am relatively new to this

any of the newer chips are flashable.

however you dont necessarily have to buy a newer modchip. what location does your bios point to? i.e where is xbmc?

I have the same problem. However, I don't have any option of switching to a different mod-chip. My XBMC is installed on F Drive.

Do I have any chance of getting it to work? I mean IGR with XBMC as dash??

yes guys, find the location that your bios points to. i.e the dashboard, which in this case is xbmc.

then download pbl-metoo from the usual places, install it to this directory, and configure it, it includes the evox m8 bios. configure this bios to point to another location, a location where xbmc can be stored.

this way you can run a newer bios with IGR without another modchip.

I have not been able to locate 'pbl-metoo' in the usual place. However I got the following:
1. PBL1.4.1 by gueux.rar
2. EvolutionX M8plus Bios.rar
3. PBL-Lite.rar

The C Drive of my xbox has the following files:
1. evox.ini
2. evoxdash.xbe
3. evoxdash1.xbe
4. xbmc.log
5. xbmc.old.log
6. XBox Book.xtf
7. Xbox.xtf
8. xboxdash.xbe
9. XboxMediaCenter.xml

The evoxdash.xbe is the default.xbe copied from xbmc directory and renamed. The evoxdash1.xbe is the original EVOX dash file.

My XBMC is stored in F:\Apps\XBMC

How do i go about it. Please explain in detail. I am a noob in this. I hope you understand. If the pbl-metoo is there at the usual places please give me a link via pm or better still, send me the file by pm.

Thank You

metoo is at the usual places. i think it was called something like metoo-m8pack-v1.4 or similar.

basically extract metoo to a folder on your pc. open the config file included with it, i think its a .ini, make it point to the bios in the same directory. rename the default.xbe to evoxdash.xbe. put your xbmc default.xbe back in its dir on the F drive, renamed back to default.xbe. open the bios included with xbtool and change the dashboard location to F:\Apps\XBMC\default.xbe. transfer all of the files to the C drive in their current directory structure, making sure that the metoo default.xbe is called evoxdash.xbe.

you are free to contact me via MSN if you wish.

Evox 3935 as dash, but I have it so it boots directly to xbmc cause XBMC does everything I need (except IGR)
BTW , patch the bios with what...?

thanks

Yes, if you patch it with evtool.
