A long time ago I suggested the possiblity of displaying emulator output on TV's in Non-Interlaced mode? Most video games systems before 1995 always used single field non interlaced output. When you display them on an interlaced screen (by doubling the number of lines) it causes horrible flickering.
A non-interlaced mode (720x288p) would enable a more realistic look without the flicker filter turned off.
The problem is that I do not think the M$ SDK supports such a mode... even if the hardware does. You'd probably have to hit the hardware direct and as there are at least 3 different video encoders (connexant, Focus, X-calibur) it might not be too easy.
Documentation is thin on the ground, but the authors of the BIOS's have managed to get enough details to drive all three natively.
I just thought I'd bring this up again.
