how do i set up my usb 256mb storage card as a xbox memory card

i have a usb cable for my xbox but when i go to M$ dash nothing comes up in memory

is there something i must do to the drive?

you just create the usual usb adapter cable and plug in the drive. you need to go in the memory menu and format it before it can be used. there are drives that won't work on the xbox.
